MOLECULAR GENETICS (IN-MOLG-IUINA)

Department Information

One of the first human genetics departments in the country, the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at IU School of Medicine has a rich history of training geneticists and genetic counselors and providing genetic consultation and counseling services. Currently ranked 5th in the nation among Genetics Departments for NIH Funding, received in 2023, the department contributes to the understanding of numerous genetic conditions through the integration of basic research in genetic and genomic mechanisms, translational research in disease models, and clinical trials in rare and common genetic diseases.

The Indiana University Genome Editing Center within the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine is a leading institutionally subsidized shared resource. Our mission is to provide cutting-edge genome editing technologies to both Indiana University researchers and external collaborators. These efforts aim to identify and validate therapeutic targets, accelerate translational research, and advance precision medicine.

The Pelletier Laboratory's research centers on deciphering the molecular mechanisms involved in neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative conditions. Our approach encompasses a variety of methods, including mouse genetics, ensuring that our discoveries can be effectively translated into clinical applications. If you are passionate about making a difference in biomedical research and possess the skills and mindset to lead a dynamic laboratory team, we encourage you to apply.
