JOB SUMMARY

The Global Product Manager - Upstream Marketing is responsible for providing strategic input to the product roadmap, executing on projects defined in the road map, and participating as a key member on new product development teams for TSI's DICKEY-john product line. The position is responsible for identifying business opportunities, conducting Voice of Customer (VOC), developing value propositions, and associated business and technical product requirements. You will lead new product development (NPD) efforts, launching products and be responsible for NPD metrics.

You will be part of team that works toward meeting annually established financial and strategic objectives set by the Sr. Global Product Manager. You will work closely with the following internal TSI Departments; Product Development, Business Development, Downstream Marketing, Sales, and Marketing Communications in the definition and execution of planned initiatives designed to optimize growth and profitability of TSI's Agriculture products. This position is responsible for contributing to the product strategy and roadmaps for assigned product lines including hardware, software and services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Define, implement and maintain the overall product marketing strategy for assigned product lines (product, price, promotion, and channel). Develop and update Product line Roadmaps.
  • Analyze market drivers, technology developments, intellectual property landscape, regulatory drivers, and competitor posturing of assigned product line segments. Recommend new product development strategy and recommend project priorities based on findings.
  • Develop business cases for identified opportunities including revenue potential, market risks and uncertainties, and collaborate with engineering and sales to develop ROI estimates for recommended product/service proposals.
  • Participate in cross-functional innovation teams to analyze markets and develop new product and service strategies. Encourage free thinking and collaboration amongst team, but make sure that they remain focused on the business objective you have provided.
  • Evaluate adjacent and new market segments for assigned value stream(s). Develop market segment revenue potential. Identify and propose market-based solutions offering growth potential.
  • Conduct and coordinate market research, competitive assessments, and Voice of Customer research.
  • Partner with Business Development team to define strategic product/technology gaps. Identify potential partners and acquisitions to fill identified gaps.
  • Work closely with Product Development teams, providing customer needs (critical customer requirements) input. Along with Program Manager and Systems Engineer, provide leadership to the Product Development team and collaborate on cost/benefit analysis and solution feature set. Be an active team member, professionally completing assigned NPD process documentation.
  • Collaborate with downstream marketing on product launch plans and pricing models. Build strong cross functional relationships throughout the global organization to maximize influence without direct authority.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Communication and Product Marketing Specialist team members, on the development of multi-media marketing programs to support lead generation and advance prospects to sales. Contribute to training of sales, including direct sales and channel partners.
  • Manage a general collaboration portal that collects and analyzes key data for making product decisions. Data will include lost sales analysis, product enhancement requests, market research data, customer complaints and satisfaction ratings, novel end user applications, unmet customer needs, and pertinent technology developments.
  • Engage in merger and acquisition conversations as needed.
  • Manage price review program for assigned products, including conducting benchmarking activities. Recommend price levels. Implement updated pricing.
  • Analyze financial performance of released products. Make ROI-based decisions on continuation engineering activities and margin improvement opportunities.
  • Provide demand forecasts and market intelligence to Operations to optimize balance between customer service levels, working capital, and capacity utilization.
  • Travel extensively to support activities such as VOC efforts, training, new product launches, and visiting customers and potential business partners (25-40%+ as needed).

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Science, Business, or Marketing is required.
    • MBA is desired
    • Minimum of five years of progressive product management experience required, exhibiting increased levels of responsibility in scope
    • B2B and OEM experience is highly desirable
    • International Business experience preferred.
    • Experience in Precision Agricultural Technology, farming principles and practices, and agronomics
    • Experience in sensors, monitors and control systems
    • Operational experience (manufacturing, technical support, engineering) also desired.
