Job Description Summary
This newly created position will be a key member of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team and is located in Cushman & Wakefield's global Chicago headquarters. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Relations and Policy, this role will be part of a broader Environmental Social Governance (ESG) focused team but will champion efforts around Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change management at the enterprise level. This position will own the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of enterprise-level sustainability performance targets. This role will be responsible for developing and executing strategies and achievement plans to reduce GHG emissions throughout our value chain. This position will work on a wide variety of projects and must be able to work well with cross-functional teams. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability in the commercial real estate industry, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce results.

Job Description:

  • Taking ownership of the Company's enterprise-level science based targets, accompanying strategies and achievement plans
  • Maintaining and serving as the point of contact for enterprise-wide inventories for energy, GHG, water, waste and other resources.
  • Making recommendations for energy efficiency and renewable energy purchase options in collaboration with third-party advisors
  • Contributing to sustainability thought leadership to support and engage ESG stakeholders
  • Serving as in-house expert point of contact to work with third-party advisors on implementation of actions toward energy, GHG, and resource reductions for the Corporate leased real estate portfolio
  • Serving as internal point of contact on sustainability initiatives; comfort running educational programs and producing resources (in collaboration with relevant cross-functional colleagues) on sustainability initiatives. Role will be responsible for communicating Corporate goals and visions to Cushman & Wakefield's hundreds of client-facing sustainability services professionals globally
  • Supporting business development activities with existing and prospective clients
  • Being a key contributor to the firm's annual CSR Report

Skills/Abilities:
  • Data-driven and ability to back up recommendations and decisions with numerical evidence; advanced data analysis and data visualization skills; strong ability to collect data and create/improve data management systems
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Excellent communication skills- written, oral, presentation and stakeholder management skills are all vital to the role
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms
Experience:
  • 5+ years experience in corporate sustainability, climate change or ESG/CSR position with strong focus on technical aspects of sustainability
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as environmental science or climate science or similar discipline. Master's degree or professional sustainability certifications are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of climate science, corporate climate strategy, regulatory and voluntary reporting requirements and frameworks such as SBTi, CDP, GRESB, GRI, and the GHG Protocol
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate industry, understanding of a commercial real estate services
