Ledgent is currently seeking a Grant Assistant for one of our non-profit clients in Bridgeport, CT. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity that is open to Jr Accountant-level or Grant Administration applicants, and the contractual pay rate is between $20-25/hr, depending on experience. The contractual (i.e. temporary) portion of the assignment is expected to last between 6 and 9 months(+/-), after which point you have the opportunity to become a permanent employee with this company, and eligible for their converting pay range of up to $65,000/annually with a competitive benefits and PTO package. Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a detailed ledger of all grant moneys coming in, and being allocated out of, the organization
  • Create, update, or maintain all required grant documentation support
  • Maintain grant schedule
  • Track monthly cash receipts with relation to grants
  • Assist with other finance & accounting duties such as payroll, budgeting, reporting, month-end close, and other items as requested
Qualifications:
  • BS Accounting or Finance is highly preferred
  • Prior experience in non-profit organizations, managing grants, or in the healthcare industry, highly preferred
  • Some prior accounting experience required
  • Proven Excel skills, including with pivot tables and formulas, required
  • Experience with at least 1 accounting software system, required
  • Eager and willing to learn
  • Enthusiastic, go-getter mentality
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction well
  • Openness to coaching and training
  • Genuine interest in and passion for the mission and business
