High School Transition Advisor

Full-time Support Staff
Varies between campuses

The High School Transition Advisor is a support position that reports to the Dean for Admissions with dotted line reporting to the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness / Title V Project Director. This position will support the transition of Hispanic/Latinx and low-income early high school students from top feeder high schools in support of the goals of the college's Title V grant. This position is funded by the Title V grant and must meet all federal grant requirements.

Responsibilities

Engage and support Hispanic/Latinx and low-income early high school students and their families to consider or pursue higher education.

Regular follow-up with both students and parents to offer advice, support and encourage them to schedule one-to-one advising and enrollment sessions with their Admissions Advisor.

Work with students and families to identify challenges and opportunities to college and provide appropriate information and support.

Create and coordinate activities at target high schools to educate students and parents about college.

Conduct re-engagement calls for students who have not yet enrolled.

Enter outreach notes and student information into the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Maintain general knowledge of college activities, programs and requirements with the ability to refer inquiries to the appropriate personnel.

Serve as a representative of the college in collaboration with Admissions Advisors at community and district high school events related to the grant goals.

Attend necessary workshops and seminars as appropriate to meet the grant goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field required. Master's preferred.

Three years providing direct services to students/clients in a case management model that incorporates referrals to services and vigilant follow-up.

Higher education experience preferred.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Excellent communication, organizational and human relations skills.

Outstanding phone and email etiquette.

Familiarity with CRM systems, data entry for updating student records and other student service/computer software.

Valid Illinois driver's license required.

I. Physical Requirements: Frequently outside the office environment while traveling between campuses or to assigned high schools. May frequently lift/carry up to 20 lbs. to transport supplies between locations.
