Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The Environmental Services Manager serves as a liaison between all hospital staff, Infection Control and EVS department with responsibility to address concerns regarding all environmental conditions. This position maintains proper knowledge of supplies and chemicals used, how they are obtained and distributed, and ensures supply is adequate for staff to do their job at all times.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

General

  • May work in the inpatient or outpatient environment, or be required to cover as needed. The inpatient environment consists mainly of the acute care hospital setting while the outpatient environment consists mainly of the clinics and off-campus facilities. Inpatient has direct responsibility for staff while outpatient has responsibility for managing services provided by an outside contracted service provider.
  • Provides a full range of management functions required in directing, supervising and monitoring designated areas
  • Trains, schedules and provides comprehensive continuing in-service education and orientation for supervisors and employees
  • Trains supervisors as to policies, procedures, position requirements/duties
  • Reports unsafe conditions to the proper authority
  • Maintains proper knowledge of supplies and chemicals used, how they are obtained and distributed, and ensures supply is adequate for staff to do their job at all times
  • Makes recommendations to Director as to when to replace or obtain new equipment or adjust supply stock levels
  • Maintains and monitors expenses for assigned areas to ensure compliance with approved budget (staffing and supplies)
  • Serves as a liaison between all hospital staff, Infection Control and EVS department with responsibility to address concerns regarding all environmental conditions
  • Responsible for staff orientation, counseling, disciplinary action and performance appraisals

Inpatient
  • Maintains open and approachable attitude with employees regarding employee problems or concerns
  • Monitors daily assigned areas to ensure work is being done according to standards and staff follows established procedures and schedules. Makes adjustments as needed

Outpatient
  • Responsible for overseeing and inspecting Eskenazi Health sites around Marion County, including Community Health Centers (CHC's), FQHC's and Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center. Ensures contracted staff and supervisors are properly trained. Supports continuing in-service and education on an annual basis for them
  • Implements practices and procedures that ensure that all sites are in compliance with cleaning and infection control standards and in-services on an annual basis
  • Collaborates with the leadership of each site and attends management or community based meetings as needed
  • Investigates all issues and concerns regarding any of the sites and works with the leadership of the contractor services and others that are necessary to resolve each issue

Job Requirements

  • Prefer bachelor's degree in any business or organizational leadership discipline. Minimum of High School education or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of two (2) years of post-high school education plus a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental services management.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience in a large institutional environmental services management position may be accepted in lieu of post high school education/training.
  • A current Indiana (Drivers) Operator's License is necessary for frequent local travel on Hospital related business
