The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will align closely with the business to help drive Life Fitness's strategic objectives through various talent strategies.

Reporting to the HR Director for Commercial and Product, the HRBP partners with managers and leaders from Engineering and Product Management to provide guidance on a wide variety of topics and develops strategic solutions in the areas of talent acquisition, talent management, learning & development, employee engagement, performance management, total rewards, employee relations and compliance. Additionally, the HRBP will be responsible for performing analysis of relevant HR data, identifying trends and developing predictive analytics to support the business and fact-driven decision making.

The ideal candidate for the HRBP role is highly collaborative, passionate about learning, enjoys the challenge of solving complex problems, is curious about business issues outside his or her area of expertise and has experience as a generalist with a scope of responsibility that provided exposure to the wide expanse of all HR Management disciplines.

The HR Business Partner will be based out of Life Fitness's headquarters in Franklin Park, Illinois and will have some options for remote working. Some travel may be required, up to 15%.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides a high level of support to both management and employees on the full array of human resources practices.
  • Proactively develops, recommends, and implements HR strategic plans to support the business's objectives. The HR solutions developed as part of this strategic planning process may impact the areas of talent acquisition, talent management, learning & development, employee engagement, performance management, total rewards, employee relations and compliance.
  • Cultivates strong relationships with business leaders and develops a deep knowledge of the business and HR's role within it.
  • Facilitates and coaches management to set aligned and high quality targets for individuals to drive the business to achieve consistent levels of performance.
  • Drives performance management ensuring that goal setting, follow-up and corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.
  • Partners with business leaders on assessing internal and external talent and making key decisions, as well as on movement and compensation within the designated client group.
  • Continuously evaluates the level of management and high potential talent in the client group to establish a baseline of current bench strength and helps business leaders determine targets to close the gap.
  • Partners with and provides advice and counsel on employee relations (ER) and performance issues. Works collaboratively to create and maintain positive employee relations and resolve conflicts in an effective manner. Interprets and administers all company-wide policies and procedures in a consistent manner and provides management with policy interpretation. Build management responsibility and capability for managing ER issues. Prepares, writes and edits corrective action notices when necessary.
  • Provides a high level of service to employees as it relates to onboarding, professional development, benefits, compensation, and other employee-related issues.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and provincial laws.
  • Manages and executes project-related HR initiatives and performs other duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum five (5) years of HR Generalist or Business Partner experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related discipline required.
  • Exceptional consultative and client service skills with the ability to effectively negotiate and manage key relationships with a broad business objective.
  • Broad knowledge of employee relations concepts, legislation, and practices with the ability to effectively investigate sensitive matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to research information and analyze evidence to arrive at valid conclusions, sound recommendations and plans of action.
  • Thorough understanding of federal employment legislation including Title VII, EEO, ADA, FMLA and FLSA.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to interact with and establish trust and credibility with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with changing needs.
  • Ability and experience utilizing sound judgment, problem solving, decision making and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical ability, organizational skills and keen judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required. Must possess above-average presentation skills.
  • Expertise required in MS Office with advanced knowledge of Excel for trend and data analysis.
  • High levels of ethics, personal discipline and professionalism required.
