Job Summary
As a seasoned experienced professional with a comprehensive understanding of UC system-wide, campus, and unit academic practices, policies, and procedures, the Academic Recruitment Specialist resolves moderate to complex academic recruitment issues affecting a broad range of academic titles in imaginative and practical ways. 

Under the direction of the Academic Recruitment Manager, the Academic Recruitment Specialist will be responsible for developing search strategies and providing recommendations to department chairs and faculty search committee chairs to ensure the academic recruitment needs of the organization are met. This position will be the key Academic Affairs contact for all academic recruitments, and will be responsible for management of the recruitment process in the system-wide AP Recruit application which will include posting, monitoring, closing of recruitments and system-wide reporting. The Academic Recruitment Specialist will act as a consultant for search committees and department chairs to ensure policy compliance and improve hiring outcomes. The individual will interpret and apply policies and procedures related to recruitment and provide training to academic search committees on AP recruit applicant management. The individual will participate in AP Recruit related projects, and serve as a campus representative/ working member on AP Recruit SME groups. The individual will receive minimal instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance on new projects.

Required Qualifications
*    Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field and minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience  or equivalent experience
*    Demonstrated knowledge and confidence to effectively work with faculty or executive level leadership via telephone or in person; proven ability to work with people of all levels, be flexible and a team player
*    Skill in analyzing situations, information, practices and/or policies in order to define the problem or objective; identifies relevant factors and patterns, formulates logical conclusions, recognizes alternatives and effectively achieves successful outcomes
*    Ability to independently prioritize assignments when faced with heavy workload, change in assignments and pressure of deadlines
*    Demonstrated advanced understanding and application of the following principles and practices:
-Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of UC recruitment policies and federal regulations, and academic hiring practices 
-Ability to develop and implement strategies to establish good working relationships with the organization 
*    Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to proactively and effectively mutil-task
*    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.  Must be able to understand and be understood clearly in English, with a high degree of ability to write clearly and articulately in English
Preferred Qualifications
*    Knowledge of UC recruitment policies and federal regulations
*    Experience in academic personnel
*    Experience in using a web based recruitment/ applicant tracking system
