POSITION SUMMARY:

Direct activities in his/her shift of the Export Receiving area ensuring the accurate completion and processing of Shipments, Domestic Trucks, Imports Transfers, Ocean Transfers, proper staging, handling, warehouse reconciliations and reports.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicates to management regarding necessities of training of personnel.
  • Directs staff in expediting shipments received and Domestic Trucks off loads to avoid delays.
  • Coordinates with all Internal and External customers with logistic handling.
  • Assures all shipment are staged in the proper designated area.
  • Expedites export arrangement and maintains current / updated information on the export restrictions, procedures, and other regulatory organizations.
  • Distributes personnel per shift to ensure proper coverage and customer service levels.
  • Performs employee reviews, coaches, roll calls, counsels, and assist employees to perform at their highest potentials.
  • Updates and monitors time for payroll submissions.
  • Tracks performance against stablished standards for all activities under immediate supervision.
  • Conducts audits of employee performance, warehouse receipts and reports.
  • Ensures proper tools are assigned to the staff, along with equipment inventory up to date and in proper working conditions.
  • Ensures personnel is attends the annual Hazmat awareness and forklift training.
  • Must exercise independent judgment in order to process required duties timely.
  • Participates in the hiring and terminations decisions with the department manager.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills, Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must have cargo service / customer service experience.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of staff, vendors and customers.
  • Must have good attention to detail, this includes continuously monitoring shipments from the point of receipt to delivery.
  • Self-starter attitude is required, must be able to work effectively with minimal to no supervision.

  • Must have customer service background.
  • Must be up to date with Internal Company and Export Regulation requirement. Must be familiar with computer programs although some training will be offered.

  • Ability to obtain a SIDA badge.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position will have direct reports and will require overseeing shift activities and providing training for new team members.
  • Must be up to date with Internal Company and Export Regulation requirement.
  • Must be familiar with computer programs although some training will be offered.
  • Plans, monitors, and appraises job results making sure direct reports meet performance expectations.
  • Prepares Team schedules, keeping attendance, approving work hours and time off requests.
  • Conducts new hires training. Provide and demonstrate task instructions.
  • Ensures great customer service at all levels.
  • Reinforces systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations.

Language Skills:

The employee must possess good interpersonal and communications skills, be able to effectively work with others, respond to questions from managers and co-workers.

Preferred English and Spanish proficiency.

Physical Activities and Requirements of the Position:

Job duties include but are not limited to lifting, pulling, pushing, grasping, twisting (including wrists), reaching below and overhead, standing for long periods, squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and lifting heavy items.

Mental, visual, and auditory acuity necessary to work with or near moving mechanical parts (i.e., cooler, dock equipment), in high, precarious places (i.e., ladder work), and cold/hot climate conditions. Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: computers, human voices, sound systems, and machinery. Warehouse climate conditions are subject to change without notice.
