Position Summary

MAG is hiring a Behavioral Psychologist to support the U.S. Army C5ISR Center's Human Perception Laboratory to focus on collecting accurate, actionable data from subjects to inform the design of Army sensors and sensor displays, supporting quantitative and qualitative research efforts. This team supports the study of how low-light (i.e., "night vision") sensors, thermal sensors, and advanced displays impact Soldiers and how they can be improved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in all aspects of the quantitative and/or qualitative research process
  • Defining key research questions with stakeholders, developing experimental plans and procedures, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and disseminating findings
  • Meet with customer to determine their research questions, planning quantitative and/or qualitative experiments, analyzing data, and providing technical reports
  • Scope includes measuring human performance during tests and experiments
  • Measure performance with real or simulated sensor imagery
  • Conducting test that examine the cognitive processing of augmented reality information, conducting experiments with augmented reality/virtual reality displays, and conducting evaluations of physical or virtual sensor/display prototypes
  • Take a "Soldier-centered" design approach to evaluate technology, measure performance and to collect feedback on emerging technologies through interviews, focus groups, and surveys.

Education and Experience

The minimum level of education required:
  • Masters Degree in Psychology, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Human Systems Integration, or a related field

The minimum years of related experience required:
  • 0 years of relevant experience
Desired Requirements

Candidate should be able to demonstrate their ability to conduct quantitative and/or qualitative research with human participants, analyzing data, and writing/presenting findings:

  • Support human factors/user experience research
  • Support visual perception and/or sustained attention research
  • Experience with the R statistical language
  • Support conducting interviews and focus groups
  • Support and lead designing surveys
  • Experience with interface design
  • Experience with simulation construction
  • Experience and/or interest in collecting data outside of a traditional laboratory environment (e.g. experience conducting outdoor "field" tests, experience establishing off-site/remote test stations for experimentation, etc.)
  • Experience conducting online "crowdsourcing" research using MTurk or other online data collection platforms/tools

Other Qualifications

  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance is required, an active Secret Security Clearance is desired
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Physical requirements for the job include the ability to support within an office environment, lab/testing environments, to include off-site and remote test stations, and at outdoor field tests as needed
