JOB DESCRIPTION

The First South Farm Credit Internship Program allows students to spend their summer working alongside our IT professionals. Interns will be able to advance skills in information technology security, systems and software maintenance, and customer service. Interns will be able to apply business skills in a real world environment, expand your network of professional contacts, and gain valuable experience with an industry leader.

A December 2024 graduation date or earlier is preferred. Associate's or Bachelor's degree will be equally considered.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Industry Knowledge. Learn about the Farm Credit System and First South Farm Credit's operation, products and services, and primary job functions.

• Software and Equipment Maintenance. Assist the association with break/fix issues and special equipment orders for all employees.

• Vulnerability Project Management. Utilize project management tools to plan, lead, and deliver software security updates and patches on a continual basis at both the association and branch levels.

• Customer Service. Discover how to engage with and improve the daily life of fellow employees at a large association with multistate locations.

• Career Skills. Learn more about individual skills and competencies and the impact they will have on your career plan.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Solid troubleshooting skills
  • Capability of working well in a team environment and with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience with Windows in a technical support environment and supporting recent versions of Microsoft Office Applications. Experience with networking technologies and printer support is preferred.
  • Awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software.
  • Knowledge of the PC industry's current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems.
  • Ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources.
  • Capacity to perform tasks such as operating systems and application software installations and upgrades, as well as virus protection and eradication.

LOCATION

This internship will take place on-site in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
