Hybrid:This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively.The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.This position requires an employee to be onsite1-3 times per week

The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This new platform shall seamlessly connect in-vehicle computing controls with cloud and edge computing resources.

Role:

The Infotainment QA Engineer will be an important member of our software group in Sunnyvale, which is part of the larger GM Global Engineering team. The QA engineer will be responsible for defining, implementing, executing, and maintaining test plans and test cases to ensure the software will be delivered with high quality. The engineer will work closely with development engineers, requirement engineers and program managers during the entire product lifecycle. The QA engineer reviews requirement specifications and design documents, to better understand the features for the efficient design of suitable test cases.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in requirement reviews in order to write test procedures and test cases
  • Develop test cases for black/white box testing
  • Define test strategies based on software development plans
  • Define and maintain test plans based on software development schedule
  • Ensure test plans align with the development schedule and project milestones
  • Analyze reported issues to generate quality reports, and contribute to defect prevention
  • Support development teams to verify and/or reproduce reported issues
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of test processes and methodologies
  • Setup and configure necessary hardware and operating environments for specialized and daily test cases
  • Maintain of test equipment and the test library environment
  • Participate in development of test tools and test scripts

Additional Job Description

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related
  • 2+ years' experience in Automotive or Android SW Test or Development, including experience with test automation
  • Experience Automation Testing using Languages (Python/ Java/ C++) and testing Android code
  • Understanding of Vehicle Electrical Architecture and Subsystem/Features in the Infotainment domain
  • Understanding of Infotainment Operating Systems such as Android, Linux and QNX

Preferred Skills:
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance
  • Automotive industry experience using Automation Testing tools (UI Automator), API Testing (JUnit)
  • Knowledge of vehicle CAN based communication and use of CAN tools - CaNoE, Vehicle Spy
  • Working knowledge of Scrum/Agile software development process
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
