Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a full-time, 9 month teaching position in the Social Work Program at Murray State University's main campus. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. As this is a small program, the ability to teach a variety of courses across the social work curriculum is expected.

  • Teach a variety of courses across the BSW curriculum suited to experience and expertise.
  • Serves as academic advisor and professional mentor for students.
  • Actively participate in committee work, as well as curriculum, professional development, and service to external stakeholders.
  • Recruit for the social work program in the region
Minimum Education Requirements:

  • An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program is required, with the ability to earn a doctorate within five (5) years is required.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Eligibility for Social Work licensure at a graduate level is required.
  • Flexibility to teach all courses in BSW curriculum is required.
  • Flexibility to utilize different teaching methods: traditional, hybrid, online, etc.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations and ability to contribute to the department and the university's commitments to inclusivity, equity, and social justice is required.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years post MSW full time experience in professional social work practice is preferred.
  • Doctorate is preferred.
  • Post MSW practice experience with substance abuse is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability teaching BSW students with a variety of learner focused methodologies, reflecting high impact teaching practice is preferred.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Utilization of technology that enhances teaching and learning is preferred.

Note: If the successful candidate is master's prepared, the position will be filled as a non-tenure track, instructor. If the successful candidate holds a terminal degree appropriate for the position, the position will be filled as a tenure-track, assistant professor.Posting Date:
