Position Summary

MSU CAPS has a long history of clinical training and at its core is a training program focused on multiculturalism and social justice, honoring differing experiences and the multiple ways of knowing. We are committed to helping develop the next generation of mental health professionals who are willing to foster self-reflective practice along with cultural humility.

This position will provide individual and group services and receive training in a multiculturally-focused, inclusive, collaborative, and integrated mental health environment. The Fellow will engage in both experiential and didactic training that provides them expertise in working in collegiate mental health as well as a variety of other careers. Candidates will have the opportunity to choose from pre-determined concentration areas to develop specific expertise in those areas. Each of the following concentration areas will be available for the applicant to select from upon acceptance of the offer: Collegiate Mental Health Administration; Complex Trauma Assessment and Intervention; Intensive Clinical Services; Multicultural Engagement & Outreach; Psychodynamic Psychotherapy; Group Counseling; and LGBTQIA+ Empowerment, Identity, Development and Affirming Care.

Consistent with the State of Michigan licensing eligibility for master's level counselors, master's level psychologists, or master's level social workers, applicants must be enrolled in or have graduated a master's level clinical training program and will be at least limited license eligible in counseling, psychology, or social work by start date.

The Post Master's Fellowship is a fixed term position that begins in August and ends in July. As a Michigan State University employee, Fellows are eligible for benefits programs as well as paid holidays. Supervision towards full licensure will also be provided by a CAPS staff member who holds appropriate credentials.
