Internal Communications Specialist

One Call is a leader in ancillary services for theworkers' compensation industry. We make it easier for injured workers toreceive the care they need when they need it by coordinating care thatincorporates technology and leads to an enhanced client experience.

Asa communications specialist, you will play a key role by assisting in thedevelopment of internal communication strategies and programs to inform, engage,and connect colleagues to our mission and values. You will work in across-functional capacity with various departments and play a critical role in thedevelopment of compelling and creative content for our internal communicationchannels. The ideal candidate will have a passion for communications, writing,and employee engagement. 

 

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position reports directly to the internal communications manager, which is housed within the human resources department. The communications specialist will assist in executing a variety of communications, culture, and engagement objectives, including, but not limited to:

 

·       Supporting content strategy and editorial creation for company-wide and targeted communications to ensure consistency and cohesive messages, and alignment with brand standards.

·       Writing and editing content related to policy, culture, enterprise initiatives, and other areas of strategic importance as directed by the internal communications manager.

·       Promoting employee engagement and culture with communication components that are inspiring and promote engagement across departments.

·       Helping to plan internal events such as quarterly town halls, holiday celebrations, and colleague appreciation events.

·       Assisting with the company's corporate giving program - One Call Gives - to promote community connections and relationship building.


In addition to the above duties, the communications specialist would also be responsible for:

 

·       Becoming knowledgeable of the One Call brand and ensuring brand guidelines are met across all internal communication channels.

·       Becoming an expert user of the company's intranet - Connect. This includes handling day-to-day content publishing for colleague intranet site, creating additional departmental pages as needed, and completing regular audits throughout the site to ensure content meets brand standards.

·       Creating weekly colleague newsletters based off new information posted to the company's intranet site.

·       Assisting in the development of an app for the company's intranet site.

·       Maintaining and updating the corporate communications calendar.

·       Creating and maintaining a repository of standard communication templates to be used with key leaders across the organization.

·       Partnering with the marketing team to identify areas of cross promotion between internal and external communication strategies.

 

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

·       Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, human relations, or a related field.

·       At least 3 years of related experience required

·       Proven ability to successfully create concise, compelling AP style content for integrated communications campaigns with measurable results

·       Possess passion for writing content that draws people in, such as incorporating unique human-interest angles

·       Comfortable cultivating relationships across the organization with key leaders and senior executives

·       Demonstrate agility by quickly learning and understanding the workers' compensation industry while successfully managing multiple writing assignments/deadlines at one time

·       Please note: A writing sample may be required as part of the recruitment process

 

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

·       Strong verbal communication skills across various audiences (e.g., c-suite, thought leaders)

·       Excellent writer and editor with an eye for detail and a commitment to quality work 

·       Strong problem solving, project management, and time management skills

·       Self-starter: ability to take an assignment with broad objectives and complete independently

·       Ability to quickly analyze complex situations and determine how strategic communications can create a solution

·       Proficient use of Microsoft 365 programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams

·       Experience using CRM or CMS (specifically the Unily platform) a plus

·       Experience utilizing project management software such as Planner

·       Team player with a desire to collaborate and be an active, contributing member of a growing team

PHYSICAL/EMOTIONAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

·       This position will be hired as a remote position but transition into a hybrid position where it will be required to work from our Jacksonville office 1 - 2 days per week.

·       This job is primarily sedentary and may involve repetitive motions.

·       The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and lift objects (up to 10lbs weight; up to 4 ft. height).

·       Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to see things from a close distance and ability to adjust focus
