Position OverviewThe Intramural Sports Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the entire atmosphere of the various Intramural Sports events offered throughout the semester. Supervisors must be able to implement Intramural Sports policies with effectiveness both independently and in collaboration with fellow supervisors and officials.

This is a semester long position with the opportunity for advancement.Job DescriptionRecreation Services and the Intramural Sports program are seeking students to join our team for the fall 2024 semester as an Intramural Sports Supervisor.

The Intramural Sports Supervisor is responsible for the on-site supervision of Intramural Sports Officials and administration of the various Intramural Sports activities. Supervision will include multiple activities that can occur simultaneously. An Intramural Sports Supervisor must have a comprehensive knowledge of team sport and individual / dual activities. Experience as an official at The University of Kansas or similar situation is preferred, but not required.

An Intramural Sports Supervisor will work in collaboration with other Intramural Sports Supervisors mostly afternoons (beginning at approximately 4:00p) and evenings, Sunday through Thursday with some Friday hours. This individual will have supervision from the Assistant Director for Intramural Sports and three Intramural Sports Program Managers.

The Intramural Sports Supervisor assists in overseeing the Intramural Sports program and activities by:
  • Managing over 30 Intramural Sports activities and events
  • Creatively administering program Policies and Procedures at game sites and facilities
  • Serving as the first point of contact for over 1,000 teams and 7,000 annual participants
  • Training, evaluating, and assessing the Intramural Sports officiating staff of approximately 50 students
  • Providing experiential evaluations and support for all team sport officials to aid in their development
  • Responding to injuries, rule interpretations, disciplinary matters, and facility concerns with timely proficiency and competence
  • Completing all forms and documents accurately and thoroughly
  • Representing Intramural Sports to the campus community in an exemplary manner
  • Assisting participants, spectators, and fans when needed in a professional and courteous fashion
  • Supplementing budget preparation by precisely documenting staff work hours
  • Continuing to officiate all six team sports as needed
  • Attending, engaging, and participating in all Intramural Sports Staff Meetings and Intramural Sports Official's Trainings
  • Ambitiously contributing to the development and evolution of the Policies and Procedures of the program during the end of the year program review
  • Analyzing and offering influential observations and feedback which lead to a better experience for Intramural Sports participants and officials
  • Making nominations for the Granada Player of the Week and Granada Official of the Week
Required QualificationsAn applicant for the position of Intramural Sports Supervisor must have:
  • Status as an enrolled student with at least 6 hours at The University of Kansas
  • Prior experience and/or background in team sports/activities
  • Prior experience requiring the implementation of company policies
  • Current CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain within the first month of employment
  • Current NFHS Concussion In Sports Certification or willingness to obtain within the first month of employment
Preferred QualificationsThe preferred application for the position of Intramural Sports Supervisor will have:
  • Officiating experience
  • A positive and high energy attitude
  • Ability to communicate and engage with Intramural Sports participants and staff
  • Strong conflict mediation skills
  • A willingness to learn and have fun

  • Availability to be present and engaged at the Recreation Services All-Staff Training on Tuesday, August 20, 2024
  • Availability to be present and engaged at the Intramural Sports Supervisor Training on Thursday, August 22, 2024
  • Availability to work a minimum of three days/nights a week, Sunday - Thursday, on average
