Job Summary:

  • Work closely with Production Leads, Materials Coordinator, and Warehouse personnel to coordinate materials counts daily
  • Conduct and manage all aspects of cycle counting process for raw materials and packaging
  • Investigate inventory variances and conduct root cause analysis and work with the production manager and raw material coordinator to change processes to address the issue
  • Instruct and train employees in Inventory Accuracy and cycle counting procedures and expectations
  • Post cycle counts and update records using system programs (AS400, Excel)
  • Co-lead semi-annual physical inventory
  • Review and check processes and adherence to SOPs of others to ensure conformity to standards Reports discrepancies to manager and recommends action to correct
  • Serve as backup to Materials Coordinator
  • Provide technical support and advice to personnel
  • Strict observance of all safety policies and practices
  • Files cycle count documentation appropriately
  • Will need to assist on the loading dock 10% of the time
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Inventory Specialist will work closely with Production Leads and all Warehouse personnel to coordinate materials counts daily for the manufacturing facility.

Required Skills:
  • Proficient user of computer equipment. This includes Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Printers, AS/400 software
  • Minimum 3 years as cycle counter. Five years employment as a production employee at the Johnstown site may substitute for outside experience.
  • Ability to operate standup and sit-down forklifts and load/unload trucks
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
  • Ability to move drums and pails as needed as well as ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
  • Good organizational and record keeping skills
  • Strong attention to detail and deductive reasoning and strong counting ability
  • Thorough understanding of material flow throughout facility
  • Understanding of process equipment operation and troubleshooting
  • Strong communication and process improvement skills are required
  • Complete understanding and adherence to safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
  • High school diploma required, 2 or 4 year college degree preferred
  • Ability to use RF scanners

  • Frequency of physical activity throughout shift:
    • Frequent sitting, standing, bending/twisting of neck and waist, squatting and kneeling
    • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects from floor, conveyor, vehicle, table or overhead location
    • Constant standing (6-8+ hours)
    • Frequent lifting of 10-75 lbs. (1-8+ hours) throughout shift
  • Frequency of upper and lower extremity activity throughout shift:
    • Constant grasping with dominate hand (6-8+ hours)
    • Frequent fine hand manipulation, pushing, pulling and reaching above and below shoulder throughout shift.
    • Constant walking (6-8+ hours)
    • Getting onto electric Walkie riders, forklifts and aerial work
    • Manual lifting of products, upwards of 70 lbs. per

Environment Factors and exposure throughout shift:
  • Ability to lift 5 gallon buckets of paint (upwards of 70 lbs.)
  • Ability to use Walkie Rider, Forklift trucks, Scissor Lift and other MHE
  • Picking of orders is most frequent activity (upwards of 8 hours per day)
