Description

Background:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support its Arlington, VA office.

Overview:
The ISSO will help configure and support the Information System (IS) needs of the IDT office and its VMware Enterprise-equipped classified lab.

All applicants must be U.S. citizens and possess an active DOD security clearance.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with the ISSM and Facility Security Officer (FSO) to ensure the highest level of security
  • Assist in maintaining the Information Systems (IS) security program and policies for assigned area of responsibility
  • Assist in the oversight of operational IS security implementation policy and guidelines
  • Assist with periodic testing to evaluate the security posture of the IS
  • Assist in ensuring approved procedures are used for sanitizing and releasing system components and media
  • Assist with the development and implementation of an effective IS security education, training, and awareness program
  • Maintain a working knowledge of system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures
  • Help to ensure user activity monitoring data is analyzed, stored, and protected in accordance with the ITPSO policies and procedures
  • Assist with Data Transfer responsibilities in the IDT lab and in nearby US Government sites
  • Inventory and organize resources for contracts
  • Ensure contract documents and filing is maintained; ensure confidentiality and compliance of data
  • Assist in contract asset management (receiving, tagging)
  • Assist with maintenance of contract equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
Network Systems Administrator/Engineering responsibilities include:
  • Implement user additions, deletions, and changes in Microsoft Active Directory on the IDT high-side
  • Assist with Microsoft Active Directory design and testing on the IDT high-side
  • Assist with the monthly Operating System upgrades on the IDT high-side
  • Assist with VMware ESXi and VMware Horizon maintenance and upgrades on the IDT high-side
  • Assist with the monthly patching and virus definition updating on the IDT high-side (may require off-hours or weekend time to be rotated between the team members)
  • Assist in the testing and installation of applications on the IDT high-side (usually done during the monthly patch cycle)
  • Assist with the hardening of Red Hat Linux and Microsoft OS Systems to ensure they meet DSS and/or DISA standards as needed
  • Assist in preparation for annual DSS inspections
  • Assist with, and/or perform, break/fix resolutions when needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
  • 3 years' experience, preferably in a security position
Required Skills:
  • Trained and possess technical competence commensurate with the complexity of the IS; must complete additional training identified in the "ISSO Required Training" within one year of appointment
  • VMware VSphere, VMware View
  • Linux (Red Hat), Windows Server
  • Active Directory, networking, system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures
  • National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) requirements-and the ability to work with the ISSM to implement and maintain systems per NISPOM standards
  • Up to 15% travel
Preferred Skills:
  • COMSEC (Communications Security) experience and training
  • Knowledge of eMass
