The Enterprise Infrastructure Architect role at Life Fitness will serve as the senior-most infrastructure engineer as it applies to infrastructure design, automation, existing systems and tools (cloud environments or IoC for example), and project management. This person will likely have several years of broad and complex experience in IT and is able to contribute at the highest levels of both planning and hands-on implementation and troubleshooting. The dual primary responsibilities of this role (architecture and automation) bring a logical synergy to not only the architectural design of IT systems, but also the implementation of those systems, ensuring full planning and project lifecycle activities are carried out effectively. Automation, being a critical part of today's integrated systems is articulated into this role so that interoperability and future integration capabilities are also designed into Enterprise Architecture from the ground up.

Job Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility for architectural standards and design, including;
  

• Soliciting subject matter expertise from other Applications, Security, and Infrastructure team members prior to creating architectural plans or standards.
  
• Creation of pre-build architectural plans for all new application infrastructure (as needed) and other IT systems.
  

• Creation and upkeep of "living" technology standards documents, and associated library of reference documents.
  
• Partner with outside teams to design, educate, and implement automation solutions for server, network, storage, middleware, database, and security where needed.
  
• Provides Infrastructure team representation on the Enterprise IT Architecture Team.
  

• Shared responsibility for IT Infrastructure Project Management, including;
  

• Likely a primary resource for new technology assessment, planning, budgeting, and hands-on technical implementation.
  

• Primary responsibility for Security-related, hands-on technology implementation.
  
• Keeping detailed project plans and holding cross-discipline, cross-department project meetings to delegate and track assigned tasks.
  
• Contribution to periodic project update documentation.
  

• Primary responsibility for overall cloud platform oversight and architecture;
  

• Investigating where expenses might be generated from if higher than benchmarked.
  

• License consumption and proper usage oversight; reporting for use in contract negotiations with vendors.
  
• Maintenance of cleanup and general health and best practices, as applied to cloud platforms.
  

• Support and troubleshooting responsibility for IT Infrastructure systems where automation and/or workflow is in use.
  

• Intermediate to expert-level PowerShell and other scripting languages with Python being desirable as well.
  
• Ownership of our "Joiner" and "Leaver" processes around new/exiting employees.
  

• Shared responsibility for Windows and Linux server operating systems, as a Tier III, expert-level escalation for the infrastructure team.
  
• Design, implement and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environments for automated provisioning.
  
• Maintain appropriate controls and documentation to ensure compliance of audit requirements and qualifications.
  
• Engage vendor support as required.
  
• Perform capacity and performance management analysis.
  

• Support Disaster Recovery (DR) Tests.
  
• Participates in on-call incident manager rotation to respond to major incidents.
  
• Assume additional responsibilities as assigned.

• Creates and maintains material which describes more intricate and complex architecture, as well as business process workflows and data flows, including detail and specifications of automation and timing of automated events.
  
• Maintains intimate knowledge of up-to-date industry standards, emerging/new technologies, technology roadmaps, and possibilities for synergies between existing products already used by Life Fitness.
  

Project Management:

• Explains overview and detailed view of the project per user requirements.
  

• Plans and coordinates project tasks and resources.
  
• Sought by others to answer complex and technical questions on aspects of project management.
  
• Establishes, maintains, and explains project guidelines.
  

Problem Solving:

• Facilitates group problem-solving sessions, making decisions impacting others own team.
  

• Addresses problems and makes decisions that impact areas outside immediate team, based on cost/benefit analysis, and impact current policies and procedures.
  
• Involves the appropriate people to resolve complex, cross-organizational problems and come up with comprehensive decisions within a reasonable time frame.
  
• Anticipates obstacles and negative impact to organization, prior to implementing proposed solutions.
  

Communication:

• Demonstrates flexibility in achieving mutually agreeable solutions and coaches others on communication and negotiation concepts and approaches.
  

• Explains complex concepts clearly using terms appropriate for the audience.

Education:

B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

Job Knowledge/Experience:

• Proficiency with Ansible, Terraform, and Puppet
  
• Proficiency with DevOps and CI/CD methodologies and tools for automated infrastructure code test, integration, deployment, and assurance.
  

• Proficiency with Linux and Windows systems with an emphasis on methods for automating operations Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in MS Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments.
  
• Highly proficient in multiple/applicable scripting languages.
  
• Deep competency in virtualization, cloud infrastructure technologies, and networking.
  
• Proficiency with Python language and PowerShell scripting.
  
• Proficiency with multiple data center infrastructure technologies such as server virtualization, storage, network, security, middleware, and database.
  

• Experience with Software Development Methodologies
  
• Experience with security best practices
  
• Experience with API integrations.
  
• Experience with IT Operations.
  
• Knowledge of ServiceNow platform - administration, orchestration, and automation.
  

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to travel up to 5%, for Life Fitness site-support, or for education.
  
• Ability to support production systems for emergency support, and for systems maintenance required to be performed outside of business hours.
  
• Other duties as assigned.
