Description

Governors State University is seeking to hire a Web Developer for the Information Technology Services department to provide technical support to the university's web systems. The position helps to support systems and users of all university web systems, including (but not limited to) the main public web site, secondary websites, portal, calendaring, document imaging, and any related technology for those areas.

Essential Responsibilities

60% - Web presence management and support
  • Assist in managing web servers, websites, and Intranet.
  • Assist with user support of the document imaging and web calendar management systems. Provide support for web technologies, including responding to help desk tickets.
  • Work closely with Marketing staff managing websites and supporting integrations. Actively participates in web governance efforts.
  • Support new website projects and initiatives. Research and integrate new technology.
  • 20% - Web Development and Programming Support

  • Provide programming support for website back-end and integration components.
  • Assists with new pages, templates, and technical functionality implementations.
  • Develop web pages, templates, modules, and other web components as needed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical components of institutional websites.
  • 10% - Systems Management and Support
  • Assist with updates and upgrades of web, calendar, and document imaging systems.
  • Assist with updates and upgrades of web, calendar, and document imaging systems.
  • Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting of GSU systems and Cloud services relating to its web presence.
  • Evaluate tools to create web content and utilize web metrics.
  • Help identify and analyze usage, performance, and accessibility of web system
  • 5% - Technical editing, documentation, and training
  • Assist in creation of online tutorials and documents procedures for users.
  • Assist in training users for web-related content and systems.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical and functional documentation.
  • Assist in the creation of content lifecycle and user reports relating to the GSU web presence.
  • 5% - Other duties as assigned.
    Starting Salary: $69,300.56.
    (This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

    REQUIRED: COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPTS, WHICH INCLUDES THE EARNED DEGREE AND CONFERRED DATE MUST BE ATTACHED FOR CONSIDERATION OF THIS POSITION (See "Special instructions to applicants" section below).

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Bachelor's degree or degree-seeking (minimum of 30 semester hours).
      College coursework which includes information technology, information technology management, computer science/programming, information systems, or closely related discipline.
    2. At least five (5) years of experience supporting web sites which includes one (1) year of work experience in web page or website development.
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting technology in higher education settings.
  • Web development experience using:
  • PHP
  • C# and.NET
  • HTML
  • JavaScript
  • CSS
  • Application support experience for:
  • Acquia DXP
  • Drupal CMS
  • Adobe Suite
  • Microsoft Office365
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
