Position Summary

Perform in-line and repair brazing on products and components in accordance with established standards. Perform electro-mechanical assembly and testing of TSD HVAC products.
Essential Functions

  • Obtain and maintain brazing certification in accordance with the AWS standard.
  • Perform brazing of piping sub-assemblies in accordance with company procedures and quality/productivity standards.
  • Obtain and maintain EPA Section 608 Level II certification.
  • Perform "in-line" brazing of production units to complete, in accordance with AWS standard, hermetic piping installation of HVAC unit, in accordance with company procedures and quality/productivity standards. Includes coil, compressor and accumulator brazing and pipe and piping sub-assembly brazing installation.
  • Support and provide assistance with on-the-job training to help assure HVAC Brazing Technicians are properly trained and are performing brazing techniques in accordance with Company specifications.
  • Inspect other brazers' work for compliance to requirements.
  • Perform brazing for repair and in-factory service of HVAC units.
  • Perform verification and inspection for completed units, and in-line brazed components by operating measurement devices and visual checking. Identify and correct defects appropriately.
  • Perform testing of HVAC units, for both repair and new production.
  • Read and conceptualize technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and bills of materials to complete sub-assemblies and in-line brazing.
  • Perform refrigerant related tasks such as measuring, charging, and evacuating HVAC units, for both repair and new production.
  • Complete electro-mechanical assembly of HVAC products according to drawings, bills of materials, procedures, check sheets, and other work instructions, for both repair and new production.
  • Use various hand and power tools correctly and safely to assemble sub-assemblies and products.
  • Read and understand technical drawings, mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and bills of materials to complete electro-mechanical sub-assemblies and brazed subassemblies.
  • Perform verification and inspection of electro-mechanical subassemblies and brazed sub assemblies. Identify and correct defects appropriately.
  • Complete process check sheets, daily production sheets and other daily reporting and paperwork according to company procedures.
  • Know MEPPI's quality, safety and environmental policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
Qualifications
  • High School or GED and additional courses in related field, plus minimum 5 years brazing / HVAC experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Applicable safety/operations training required to operate certain machinery and equipment (e.g., fork truck, crane).
  • Developed knowledge of HVAC systems as obtained through successful completion of technical training courses to obtain EPA 608C Level II certification.
  • Developed brazing skills as demonstrated by obtaining brazing certification in accordance with the Company AWS program.
  • Broad knowledge to obtain and maintain clearance for in-line and sub-assembly brazing activities per company training requirements.
  • Developed mechanical skills as demonstrated by the proper use of hand and power tools.
  • Developed electrical skills as demonstrated by proper wiring and assembly techniques.
  • General computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products.
