We are seeking a highly-motivated and experienced attorney to serve as Lead Product Counsel on the Facebook app Product Legal team. The role will focus on counseling the product and engineering teams that are building some of the most high-profile tools for users, publishers and content creators. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and to work on novel issues internationally in a dynamic regulatory environment.

Lead Counsel, Product Responsibilities:

  • Review global products, features, platforms and initiatives to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies across multiple jurisdictions
  • Provide product, engineering and other business teams with legal advice across many subject areas including consumer protection law, platform/publisher liability, intellectual property, media law, data protection laws and regulations, etc.
  • Coordinate with other members of legal, public policy, privacy, communications and other stakeholders on relevant issues


Minimum Qualifications:

  • JD degree (or foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one US state bar
  • 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney (law firm or in-house)
  • Experience in one of the following areas: Technology, tool creation, content creation, licensing, user generated content and/or advising clients on legal issues related to privacy and data use


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product review experience
  • Experience working on many different projects at once in a fast-paced environment
  • Substantive experience in data privacy, consumer protection, and intellectual property law
