Lead Analytical Scientist is capable of following both procedural and chemical analysis protocols, accurately record and calculate quantitative and qualitative measurements, and interpret/report test results. They will work closely with business customers to understand, plan and carry out testing. They will influence global testing requirements to ensure a safe and efficacious product

Responsibilities

  • Lead testing associated with solution properties and preservatives used in global baby wipe formulations

  • Interact and influence global KC's businesses, functions (e.g. quality) and/or production facilities on preservative testing to ensure safe and efficacious products

  • Create documentation and standards detailing lab work

  • Work closely with K-C business customers to understand need, align on test plan and carry-out testing

  • Conduct preventative maintenance and calibrations on lab instrumentation.

  • Ensure reliability of test data by reviewing results and verifying department's quality control practices were followed as well as regulatory requirements have been met.

  • Work with other team members on lab setup, clean-up and test preparation. Coach and direct technician/contractor to carry-out more routine testing

In this role you will join the Neenah, WI team and report to an R&E Manager and receives work direction from a Technical Leader and will provide direction to junior product developers.

Required (essential for the job):

  • Education: a BS in laboratory sciences like biology or chemistry and/or 2 years of hands-on analytical laboratory experience.

  • Proficiency in applied HPLC and/or Gas Chromatographic analytical procedures.

  • Established experience in basic chemical analysis techniques and standard practices: examples may include but are not limited to titrametry, quantitative analysis (general protocols), pH, volumetric preparations, UV/VIS techniques, infra-red spectroscopy, and rheological determinations.

  • Experience in analytical validation experiments, method transfer, as well as protocol and report writing

Preferred (not essential, but desired):

  • Familiarity with Chemstation or Chem32 software and Agilent chromatographic equipment (LC or GC).

  • Familiarity with ETQ software

  • Experience in a cGMP (FDA-regulated food, drug, or device) or EPA environment.
