Position Summary:

AutoNation is looking for a Lead Software Engineer with extensive experience leading teams to deliver software projects in a fast-paced environment. The Technical Lead will design, develop and support AutoNation’s enterprise applications and platforms. We use Agile delivery model to design, develop, and support our applications in a hybrid Scrum/Kanban model.

 

The Lead will partner with business stakeholders and system analysts to solution and develop enterprise class applications and systems. The Technical Lead will lead a team of resources using an Agile delivery model and is responsible for project planning and resource management. The role is also responsible for managing and mentoring software developers. This includes design and work product reviews to ensure adherence to standards and best practices for technical requirements documentation, system design and software development

 

Job Responsibilities:

• Involved in all aspects of Agile SDLC
• Solutioning and System Design
• Manage, coach and mentor developers
• Perform/oversee peer code reviews
• Serve as a technical lead on projects, leading design efforts.
• Monitors the operating efficiency of existing application systems and provides (or arranges for) proactive maintenance.
• Reviews, analyzes, and modifies systems, including coding, testing, configuring, and debugging for a large-scale system. Maintains records to document the system and revisions.
• Provides guidance and/or arranges resources for technical support to address production issues.
• Participates in training, as appropriate, on new or revised systems/ applications.
• Tests own work and contributes to the development of test plans and participates in post-implementation reviews.
• Provides second or third level operational support for production systems when necessary. Writes documentation that describes installation and operating procedures.
• Provides guidance to junior team members.
• Communicates applications changes to Technology team members.
• Estimates resource requirements and scope for incoming tasks as needed.

Technical Expertise:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 3+ years in leading delivery of enterprise class IT solutions
• 6+ years of experience in Agile software development environment
• Experience with agile development tools
• Understanding of end-to-end design/development/delivery of enterprise software applications with highest quality/reliability through thorough unit/integration/system tests
• 6+ years of Java experience
• 4+ years of experience with cloud-based (AWS, Azure) systems and environments
• 4+ years of experience with database systems (SQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Must meet company’s requirements for employment
• Valid in-state driver’s license and have and maintain an acceptable, safe driving record

 Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel approximately 20% between AutoNation work locations as required by work assignments and delivery schedules
• Work with computers and other common office equipment
• Work location is in a corporate office environment with no special physical requirements beyond what is normally expected in a typical modern corporate office
