Description:

  • Complex Specialty Conditions is looking for a System Reliability Engineer to join our team to help scale our platform, streamline developer experience, and improve stability at all levels of the application stack.
  • As a member of our SRE team, you’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex challenges of scale, while using your expertise in coding, algorithms, complexity analysis and large-scale system design.
  • You will become a Subject Matter Expert for our platforms and help the team identify opportunities to implement new capabilities to achieve extremely high up-time targets, fast time to resolution of the service issues, and drive resilience/performance/reliability.

Ideal Background:

  • The ideal candidate has multiple years experience with SRE concepts, is a self-starter, innovative, and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
  • Candidates will have a proven ability to network, influence without direct authority, and quickly build relationships to work cross-functionally to achieve a desired result.

Experience:

  • Strong technical skills and communication skills. I would like to be able to convert this person into a lead.

Team and Team size:

  •  Building a platform engineering team. Currently 3 SREs and 5 Dev Ops individuals

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Stay up to date on the latest industry trends; able to clearly and confidently articulate trends and their potential
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to improve automation of workflows, infrastructure, code testing and deployment
  • Contribute to and maintain infrastructure, monitoring tools, and CI/CD pipelines with an “Infrastructure as Code” mind set.
  • Ensure security of the environment by managing/applying permissions and encryption standards.
  • Guide Reliability via influencing teams as they work towards maintaining 99.99% reliability targets
  • Leverage modern tools and instrumentation to drive reliability and meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
  • Automate repetitive tasks, implement automation and apply analytics across products and services
  • Review issues, logs, errors, etc. to troubleshoot service tickets and use this information to drive increased reliability
  • Complete tasks with minimal guidance and oversight, and review work of others.

Required Qualifications

  • 4 or more years of experience as a System Reliability Engineer
  • 4 or more years of experience with software development
  • Experience with OpenShift Enterprise, Kubernetes, or Azure
  • Experience with Relational Databases particularly MySQL
  • Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace or other monitoring tools and how to create and use alerting
  • Knowledge of languages/scripts such as Java, JavaScript, Python, Groovy
  • Experience with establishing and managing against metrics (KPI’s, Raw Error Rate, Response time, etc.)
  • Familiar with common design and architectural patterns for building microservices
  • Good understanding of networking concepts (e.g. routing, firewalls, proxies) and technologies (e.g. HTTP, TLS, Nginx)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD – Deployment pipelines, and automated build and configuration tools using Jenkins or Azure Dev-ops.
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Infrastructure automation experience using tools such as Chef/ Puppet/ Ansible
  • Agile/communication tools Rally/JIRA, Microsoft Teams Experience
  • Building and managing Docker containers and Kubernetes for scaling services infrastructure
  • Experience code scanning tools such as Sonar, Fortify
  • Experience implementing CI/CD (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Experience in build release tools – Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory
  • Experience with IAM and Security terminologies
  • Experience with log aggregation tools such as Splunk or Grafana and developing dashboards with these tools
  • Health Care industry experience

Working Time:

  •  Work hours 8am - 5pm, plus on call
