CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
For over 15 years, the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) has been leading online education in New York. Notable for offering the most online bachelor's and master's degree options at the City University of New York, and for serving transfer students as the University system's only undergraduate all-transfer college, CUNY SPS meets the needs of adults who wish to finish a bachelor's degree, progress from an associate's degree, earn a master's degree or certificate in a specialized field, and advance in the workplace or change careers.

The School's growth has been remarkable, with twenty-four degrees launched since 2006. Enrollment has risen by more than 30% in the last four years to over 4,000 students in the credit-bearing programs. Thousands more are enrolled in non-degree and grant-funded workplace learning programs. In addition, the School has an active alumni network and has established the CUNY SPS Foundation, which offers multiple scholarship opportunities to current students.
CUNY SPS has consistently been named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the country's top online institutions. This year, the School was ranked #10 in the nation on the publisher's list of the 2022 Best Online Bachelor's Degree Programs.

This position will require an on-site presence.
CUNY SPS is seeking a versatile and flexible Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) for our General Education program. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of General Education and First Year Experience, the successful applicant will teach fully online undergraduate courses in mathematics and quantitative reasoning.

In addition to teaching, the Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) - General Education will also:

* Assist the Assistant Dean with departmental administrative oversight of General Education;

* Collaborate with faculty to ensure discipline, program and course continuity, currency, and relevance;

* Participate in program and School-wide assessment activities, using results to improve a teaching and learning;

* Participate in instructional evaluation, including Peer Review and Peer Mentoring activities;

* Support student and alumni community-building;

* Support the creation and updating/revising of course and new degree programs; and,

* Other duties as assigned.

NOTE:

QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
The successful candidate will possess:

* Earned doctorate in Mathematics or Mathematics Education;
* Ability to teach college courses in quantitative reasoning;
* Five (5) plus years of teaching experience at the college level;
* Experience and interest in first-year courses and programming focused on returning adult learners in an online environment;
* Experience teaching in an online environment;
* Experience with online course development and revision;
* Demonstrated ability to teach introductory undergraduate courses to a diverse student population;
* Proven track record in curriculum development; course, instructor and student evaluation; and student advising;
* Learning outcomes assessment experience at the course and program level;
* Knowledge of and experience using emerging technologies and open source educational materials;
* Excellent communication skills; and,
* A commitment to our campus values of equity, diversity and inclusion.

COMPENSATION
$77, 517- $82,102 on the doctoral lecturer schedule commensurate with qualifications and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
