Minimum Qualifications: 

Associatesdegree or equivalent and customer service experience required, with Libraryemployment experience strongly preferred.

GeneralFunction: 

The LibraryAssistant II is a support staff position and is a major provider of customerservice, reference services, library services, computer assistance, andone-on-one instruction to library patrons. The Library Assistant II isknowledgeable of print, non-print, and digital resources and maintains libraryequipment; while providing a high level of customer service to students,faculty, staff, and community users. This position requires strongcommunication skills and the ability to work with numerous interruptions. Thisposition works evening hours Monday-Thursday and some weekend hours asscheduled at the Moore County Campus.

Major Dutiesand Responsibilities:

1. LIBRARY DUTIES: Ensures that libraryservices are available during scheduled library hours, including, but notlimited to: using the Integrated Library System software to provide circulationservices, such as checking in and checking out library materials plus shelvingincoming items; maintaining the Reserve collection; processing interlibraryloans; and providing circulation support services, such as processing and weedingperiodicals. Maintains library facilities, restocks items/supplies as needed,and ensures that the library has a neat and pleasant appearance and is safe forpatrons and employees. Assists with library events and display preparation.Assists students, faculty, staff, and community users in properly usingcomputers, software, printers, photocopiers, and other library equipment andservices. Aids in cataloging duties as needed.

2. REFERENCE SERVICES: Assists andteaches students, faculty, staff, and community users how to access and acquireinformation using the online public access catalog, online databases, and printresources.

3. OTHER LIBRARY DUTIES: Records dailylibrary statistics and gate counts. Assists in collecting and reporting librarystatistics data monthly. Produces Motlow IDs as needed for students, faculty,staff, and community users. Troubleshoots library equipment, schedulingmaintenance and service requests, keeping inventory of supplies, and orderingsupplies as needed. Uses professional etiquette when answering the libraryphone, greeting students, faculty, staff, and community users entering thelibrary, and responding to voicemail or email messages. Works effectively withall areas of the library, including distance education services. Must be ableto lift and carry boxes weighing forty pounds and pushcarts of books andequipment from building to building or room to room. May travel to other campuslocations as assigned or needed.
