Experienced Lighting Artist to join our team to develop visually compelling worlds that players will love to explore and play in. The ideal candidate has a strong artistic eye as well as technical ability who looks to cinema and / or your own photography as inspiration for creating highly dramatic atmospheres and a variety of moods through lighting and post process color grading. You will work with a battle-tested team who are looking to push the limits of what is possible in our future titles. We want a passionate artist who looks for creative solutions to development challenges while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.

Responsibilities:


Create dramatic, awe inspiring, AAA+ quality lighting and atmosphere that fits the Narrative, Gameplay, and mood that we are trying to achieve in both real time and cinematic environments
Work closely with the Art Director and Creative Director to help define and establish the overall look and mood of the worlds that we create
Provide input and advice on surfaces, shaders, and other image quality issues in order to get the best results from how lighting interacts with the world
Work closely with the art team and engineers to find technical solutions to create stunning lighting and maintain performance standards
Implement lighting through hand placement and procedural placement tools
Adjust scene and character materials to get the most out of the lighting in a scene
Manage the performance impacts of the lighting and atmosphere while maintaining the visual quality and art direction
Communicate any risks, issues, or concerns for the project to the Art Director as they happen
Be self motivated and able to work autonomously if needed
Be receptive to and proactive about implementing changes from feedback
Participate and provide feedback in playtests for our internal projects
Be comfortable advising and providing detailed, actionable feedback to our outside partners as it relates to lighting
All other duties as assigned


Requirements:


Lighting Artist with 4+ years experience in the games industry
At least two shipped titles as a Lighting Artist
Expert Knowledge of lighting techniques and PBR lighting methods in both forward and deferred lighting renderers
Excellent eye for color, light, and composition, as well as an understanding of how it affects mood and emotion
Ability to expertly utilize color grading and post processing
Strong understanding of game development workflows
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong UE4 lighting experience. (Dynamic and baked.)
Passionate about your craft and focused on constant growth and self-education
Knowledge of current techniques and terminology
Meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality


Bonus points:


Knowledge of a 3D Software Package (Blender, Maya, Max, etc.)
Knowledge of UE4 Blueprints
Ability to create skyboxes from scratch if needed (Photographic HDR acquisition and calibration to final display in-engine)
Familiarity with cinematographers in the film industry and their approaches to lighting for movies
Keen eye for image composition and exposure in your own photography
