Department Information

The core mission of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Indiana University in Bloomington is to unlock the mysteries of the human brain and behavior, and to prepare students to apply that knowledge to improve the lives of people around the globe. As a part of the College of Arts and Sciences (The College), we are a highly multidisciplinary department, with faculty and students carrying out research ranging from molecular neuroscience to artificial intelligence. We currently have over 70 full-time faculty, more than 30 department-serving staff members, 100 graduate students, 1800 undergraduate majors, 750 undergraduate minors, and offer nine different undergraduate credentials, including a BS / BA in Psychology, a BS in Neuroscience, a BS in Organizational and Business Psychology, and certificate in Clinical Science.

Job Summary

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Conducts clerical duties including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet creation and management, data tabulation, file editing and management.
General Responsibilities
  • Assists with office production and determining alternative methods to improve workflow and efficiencies.
  • Opens, sorts, and routes incoming mail, answers correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail.
  • Compiles, copies, sorts, and files records of office activities.
  • Monitors the use of office supplies and equipment, reorders items as required.
  • Completes and mails bills, contracts, policies, invoices, and checks.
  • Answers phones, directs calls, and takes messages for the office.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or GED
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

  • Demonstrates ability to maintain confidential information
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$16.35 - $16.83 per hour

$34,000 - $35,000 annualized
