Description:
We have a Maintenance Manager opening in Millville, NJ with a food manufacturer looking to hire urgently. As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair operations of their facility to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of all equipment and systems related to food production and processing. You will be responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians, developing preventive maintenance plans, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities:

Maintenance Operations Management:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all maintenance and repair activities in the food production facility.
  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance and training.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Monitor equipment performance, analyze data, and implement improvements to optimize productivity and reduce maintenance costs.
Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks on machinery, production lines, and other equipment to identify issues and prevent breakdowns.
  • Coordinate and oversee repairs, troubleshooting, and troubleshooting activities to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary spare parts, equipment, and services to support maintenance operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment history.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards, including food safety guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols, procedures, and training programs to promote a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, addressing any identified issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance safety initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
  • Develop and manage the maintenance department budget, including forecasting expenses and monitoring expenditures.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate contracts with suppliers, and optimize maintenance processes to achieve budgetary goals.
  • Analyze maintenance-related expenses, such as equipment repairs and spare parts inventory, to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Recruit, train, and develop maintenance technicians, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety consciousness, and high-quality workmanship within the maintenance team.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in maintenance management within the food industry or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food processing equipment, machinery, and production systems.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards relevant to the food industry (e.g., FDA, HACCP, GMP).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team of technicians.
  • Solid understanding of preventive maintenance strategies, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
