Daytona International Speedway is a state-of-the-art motorsports facility and was awarded the SportsBusiness Journal's prestigious Sports Business Award for Sports Facility of the Year in 2016. Daytona International Speedway is the home of "The Great American Race" - the DAYTONA 500. Though the prestigious season-opening NASCAR Cup Series event garners most of the attention - as well as the largest audience in motorsports - the approximately 500-acre motorsports complex boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe, thus earning it the title of "World Center of Racing." Among the nine major weekends of racing activity are the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA, the DAYTONA Supercross, the DAYTONA 200 motorcycle classic and the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Rarely a week goes by that the Speedway grounds are not used for events that include track tours, concerts, civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo shoots, production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.

Staffing on DIS Track Maintenance Team. Perform routine preventive maintenance and repair procedures to include lubricating, cleaning, servicing, inspecting, and testing equipment. Support DIS racing events, track rentals and other events as directed. Operate equipment and use tools as directed. Maintain the overall condition of DIS vehicles and other motorized equipment. Basic office systems knowledge including but not limited to computer system & programs, 2-way radios, cellular phone. Microsoft Office suite knowledge preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Visually inspects, operates and listens to equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Dismantles and reassembles engines on vehicles, generators, and other motorized equipment for routine maintenance and repair.
  • Changes fluids, lubricates equipment for optimal performance.
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear; order, receive and install replacement parts.
  • Changes and repairs vehicle tires as needed.
  • Makes recommendations for repairs to be made by outside vendors.
  • Keep records and reports on motorized equipment, repair activities, etc.
  • Assists in executing DIS events - major races, track rentals, other events.
  • Assemble and disassemble track equipment such as track gates, barricades, portable bleachers, etc.
  • Use all types of power tools and large equipment including forklift, front end loader, backhoe, bucket truck.
  • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, compact and level earth to grade specifications using equipment, picks, or shovels
  • Perform light electrical, plumbing, drywall and carpentry repairs.
  • Participate in general cleaning, painting, and repair work.
  • Other duties as assigned
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Hours will vary but will include all hours of operation, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary to work events and to fulfill job responsibilities. Acceptance of work hours customary in the field of sport/entertainment is necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Florida driver's license

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and high, precarious places. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, risk of electric shock, vibration and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud but can be very loud at times.
