Position Overview

Novelis in Uhrichsville (formerally known as Aleris, IMCO Recycling, and Commonwealth Aluminum) is seeking a Maintenance Planner to execute the planning and scheduling of maintenance jobs for electricians, mechanics, contractors and engineers. The Planner also works directly with maintenance leaders and planners in other areas to plan and develop schedules for maintenance, and capital project work.In addition, the planner provides materials, drawings, work orders, work schedules, instructions, and maintenance manuals as required.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Plans and develops schedules for major and minor shutdowns along with PM and PdMs and/or desired repairs on unit equipment; participates in determining resource distribution for specific work assignments.
  • Coordinates shutdown jobs, contractors, etc. as assigned, utilizing all maintenance groups required. Ensuring all pertinent entities are aware of total schedule and have resources/ material is available when required.
  • Provide regular progress check and Plans and develops schedules for major and minor shutdowns and/or desired repairs on unit equipment; participates in determining resource distribution for specific work assignments.
  • Coordinates shutdown jobs, contractors, etc. as assigned, utilizing all maintenance groups required. Ensuring all pertinent entities are aware of total schedule and have resources/ material is available when required.
  • Provide regular progress check and render assistance to the area leaders to ensure that work is carried out according to schedules, drawings, and work order instruction.
  • Preparation of instruction files and spare parts lists.
  • Submits monthly project status reports, keeps equipment history files up-to-date; submits final reports on projects, including items of historical value, final costs analysis, schedules, etc.
  • Participates in investigating downtime reports for repetitive and preventable failures along with engineering and the maintenance associate leaders.
  • Maintain control of lengthy and costly projects by reviewing monthly costs.
  • Update accuracy of spare parts system as well as development of machine history files.
  • Maintain and updating CMMS system and provides assistance with CMMS problems to all other maintenance personnel.
  • Coordinate completion of all operation and maintenance planning and scheduling functions performed relative to assignments.
  • Establish and enforce policies and practices required to provide safe equipment, a safe working environment and safe work practices.
  • Promote EHS policy, and the EHS management system and ensure continual improvement of EHS performance in day to day operations
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe working conditions at all times

Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in maintenance planner/Scheudler in a manufacturing environment
  • Post-secondary degree preferred, Previous Electrician/ Mechanic experience preferred
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills; ability to communicate with all levels in the organization
  • Personal traits should include the ability to utilize human relation skills to motivate, train, understand, and develop others to attain the objectives
  • Desire to take initiative and develop a pro-active relationship with employees through follow-up, understanding their needs and fostering a collaborative relationship
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload; must be able to manage multiple tasks at once without sacrificing attention to detail
  • Must be flexible and able to operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Solid computer skills with software applications proficiency, including Microsoft Office. Ability to learn new software programs quickly
  • Must also possess leadership skills to direct, lead and develop other personnel to accomplish personal, plant and corporate objectives
