Manager, CompensationPosition Summary

Primary Purpose

The compensation manager will be responsible for managing all aspects within the compensation area, ensuring internal equity and external competitiveness. This includes the development, implementation, administration, analysis, and counsel on compensation programs, policies, practices, and procedures that support the organization's strategic goals and competitive objectives. The incumbent will manage the annual merit increase cycle and annual incentive processes. The incumbent will also provide direction and consultative advice to HR Business Partners around compensation recommendations.

A successful candidate will be able to hit the ground running and will be given an opportunity to quickly make a significant impact and implement key initiatives and projects in the upcoming year.

Major Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

  • Manage the design and administration of compensation and evaluation programs.
  • Utilize analytics, data, and research in order to analyze compensation data to ensure market competitiveness, internal equity, and business objectives.
  • Manage projects, such as the implementation of a grading/leveling framework.
  • Manage the annual compensation review processes, including process planning, testing, communication, administration, business partnering, and reporting.
  • Leads various projects, while ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.
  • Manage compensation projects entailing international scope, such as our expat policy.
  • Analyzes job descriptions, job profiles, and survey data in order to provide appropriate pricing of jobs using survey data and the MarketPay pricing tool.
  • Participate in the third party compensation survey submission process.
  • Assist in the design of Compensation programs and policies, including modeling financial costs and drafting communication materials.
  • Partner with the HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and the Talent Acquisition team to assist with new hire offers and advise on internal transfers.
  • Partner with HRIS and HRBPs to ensure Compensation data integrity. Ensure the accurate coding of all positions in the HRIS system (Workday/SAP) in relation to EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) and Affirmation Action reporting requirements.
  • Proactively identify and drive opportunities for Compensation process improvement.
  • Ensure that compensation plans and programs support the organization's strategic objectives and meet all legal requirements and regulations.
  • Research and monitor FLSA compliance. Communicate risks and impact to management team and the legal group.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and demonstrate the Company's core values.


Competencies/Skills/Knowledge Required

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Solid working knowledge of compensation programs and processes, including the ability to demonstrate knowledge of job evaluations, market analysis, bonus and other pay programs, and state and local laws/regulations.
  • Highly collaborative, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills; demonstrates the ability to perform routine to moderately complex compensation-related analysis and make recommendations in support of analysis.
  • Working knowledge of market pricing tools.
  • Ability to learn and understand Company organizational structures quickly and adapt to changing environments. Ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Advanced proficiency using MS Office Suites (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access). Must be able to perform more complex functions within Excel in order to manipulate and calculate data for analysis.
  • Capability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Highly detail oriented and resourceful, accountable, and with excellent follow-through.
  • Must be organized and able to multitask, manage time, and meet commitments.
  • Strength in both oral and written presentation skills are a prerequisite to success.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, finance, business administration or related field
  • Five to six years of relevant total rewards / compensation experience
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite with strong Excel and data organization skills; comfortable with advanced formulas (e.g., IF statements, V-LOOKUP, pivot tables)
  • Strong prioritization skills; ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive projects while focusing on high quality of work; juggles competing deadlines effectively
  • Thinks multiple steps ahead; prepares for potential problems and escalates issues when appropriate
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with ability to convey analytical concepts clearly to peers and management
  • Previous Workday / HRIS / SAP experience preferred.
  • Preferred systems experience in market pricing and market pricing tools.
  • Korn Ferry / Hay Methodology experience a plus.
  • World at Work certification a plus.
