REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of Information Systems and Technology

SUPERVISES: Managers and Direct Reports

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages changes in priorities, funding, scope, and timing to maintain alignment
    between business expectations and IT Department plans and budgets.
  • Must look 1-3 years ahead to consider the long-term consequences for the enterprise
    when choosing a technical direction, proposing a technology investment, harmonization
    of the environments, simplification opportunities or advising on strategic issues.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and
    initiatives.
  • Interacts with the executive leadership on matters related to IT projects
  • Selects, develops and evaluates staff to ensure the efficient operation of function.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service
    agreements.
  • Identifies innovative technical and process solutions that drive the desired performance
    in cost, quality, compliance, customer service and revenue.
  • Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to.
  • Management of all systems administrators, Network Engineers and database administrators
  • Setting Goals and Expectations for the Systems, Network and database support teams
  • Manage physical equipment within data center including HVAC, UPS, FM200, racks, switches, servers, routers, and appliances
  • Leads IT Disaster Recovery response team, process and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience required
  • Eight years IT work experience will be considered as equivalent to a degree.
  • At least 5 years' experience in various IT leadership positions required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of standards and best practices for IT required
  • Demonstrated ITIL, Cobit or equivalent foundation knowledge required.
  • Strong project management skills required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of technologies and tools for IT required.
  • Excellent communication skills, analyzing abilities and management skills required.

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.
  • Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be eligible for employment with Austal USA:
    • 18 years or older at time of application
    • Able to provide proof of US Person status (permanent resident or citizen)
    • No felony convictions of theft/deception or violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
    • No felony convictions of drug crimes within three years from disposition date
    • Willing to submit to a drug screen
    • Willing to submit to a background check

DISCRETION EXERCISED: Recommendation of IT Strategy to management.

LIAISES WITH: External IT Support vendors and department managers.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
