Your Role:

The Manager of the Project Engineering Departmentwill lead a team of project engineers who are responsible for evaluating, designing, constructing and commissioning chemical production facilities. Youwill not only lead the team but be actively involved in projects, programs and initiatives. Youwill work with external equipment manufacturers, consultants, design firms, trade association and industry experts toidentify and resolve technical, operational and organizational problems of varying complexity. This position requires working with internal cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, operations, planners, EHS experts, commercial project managers and site management as well as group functions such as Procurement, Controlling and HR. You will adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. You will provide clear direction and guidance to department staff as well as site management peers.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day-to-day management, setting objectives, coaching and developing employees, performance appraisal, determination of reward outcomes
  • Interview, evaluate and hire candidates for employment
  • Train, coach, develop and mentor employees
  • Enforce safety policies with all employees, including use of proper PPE
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations
  • Possess knowledge of, and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Provide input/support in Process Hazard Analyses as necessary
  • Regularly monitor quality of services provided by the department
  • Manage the specification, purchase and installation of capital equipment within guidelines for cost effectiveness, benefit analysis, procurement policies, product quality and contract terms
  • Works professionally with outside design firms, contractors, permitting authorities, customers and service providers

Who You Are:

Minimum qualifications:
  • A bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering at a minimum with an advanced degree desirable.
  • PMP certification in accordance with the Project Management Institute
  • PE registration is desirable.
  • A minimum of 10 years project execution experience with increasing levels of responsibility

Preferred qualifications:
  • Previous experience in building and leading a team of project engineering professionals
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate employees and deal with issues that may arise
  • Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization and across various functional groups
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent project management and engineering skills
  • Fundamental understanding of quality systems and requirements (ISO standards, semiconductor practices, GMP, etc.) where applicable
  • Working knowledge of Safety, Environmental, Regulatory requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance
