Job Description:

Working closely with the Executive Director of Marketing Communication, The Manager of Marketing and Communications will promote Marian University's Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by serving as the primary marketing point of contact at Marian University campus. The primary responsibilities include executing the annual marketing strategy for recruitment, including creation of print materials, email marketing, social media marketing, collaborating with the Office of Admissions, updating and producing digital content, and tracking key performance metrics. Additionally, developing and executing internal communication strategy for the campus location, and serving as marketing liaison at all campus events and marketing related activities. To do this, the manager will provide leadership while working with internal and external stakeholders to meet established goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan Intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.



  • Drive strategic communication planning in consultation with MU senior leaders. Develop a comprehensive communication strategy that promotes a unified voice and represents best-in-class communication strategies. Engage stakeholders throughout the University to ensure that the communications strategy aligns with the needs of the University. Work on large-scale communications projects for enhancing the presence of the University with both print and online communication. Create and execute creative and strategic communications initiatives to both internal and external audiences. Stay on top of emerging trends in the communications field.

  • Work closely with the Chancellor and Marian University's MarCom team to create an editorial voice that conveys the mission of the College and ensure that this voice is used consistently throughout all MU communications. Work with joint student-facing and donor-facing MU units to follow MU branding guidelines ensuring consistency across units for all printed and electronic communication such as: reports and presentations, publications, brochures, website, media, letters and announcements. Work with the President and Cabinet to manage crisis communications for all of MU's constituencies.

  • Provide leadership, vision, and management for the College's Communications team. Set annual goals and objectives for the team as a whole and for individual staff members. Support the growth and development of a high functioning team. Develop metrics for team success. Understand the importance of new media and collaborate with the Director of Enrollment and Vice President of Institutional Advancement to integrate online and new media strategies into the overall communications strategy inclusive of Web page. Oversee the production of a wide range of multimedia content for the MU website and social media sites/profiles. Provide direction for the creation of content for podcasts, video profiles, digital photo galleries, slide shows, interactive graphics, and work closely with internal IT staff to implement website and other applicable media outlets.

  • Develop communication strategies for the University in response to immediate requests or needs. Create press releases for special announcements, develop presentation materials, and prepare speeches and briefings, conduct fact-checking for the President .

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree required. 2-5 years of marketing experience required.

  • Available to work weekends and late nights when required.



Preferred:

  • Experience in strategic communications, marketing or public relations required.

  • Demonstrated ability with big picture goals and objectives in strategic management and collaborative approach in working with people at all levels

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively, including developing timelines, setting priorities and coordinating multiple tasks.

  • Attention to detail, ability to work successfully under time pressure and comply with policies and procedures must be demonstrated.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills required.

  • Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment and navigate a complex organization to meet objectives.

  • Experience doing social media marketing and content creation

  • Demonstrated management capabilities

  • At least one year of successful digital management experience in a college or other non-profit organization.
