DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Daytona International Speedway is a state-of-the-art motorsports facility and was awarded the SportsBusiness Journal's prestigious Sports Business Award for Sports Facility of the Year in 2016. Daytona International Speedway is the home of "The Great American Race" - the DAYTONA 500. Though the prestigious season-opening NASCAR Cup Series event garners most of the attention - as well as the largest audience in motorsports - the approximately 500-acre motorsports complex boasts the most diverse schedule of racing on the globe, thus earning it the title of "World Center of Racing." Among the nine major weekends of racing activity are the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA, the DAYTONA Supercross, the DAYTONA 200 motorcycle classic and the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Rarely a week goes by that the Speedway grounds are not used for events that include track tours, concerts, civic and social gatherings, car shows, photo shoots, production vehicle testing and police motorcycle training.

Manage the Venue Fan Crew, ensuring that Daytona International Speedway delivers our guests the best experience in sports for all events. In addition, this role will supervise the Wardrobe department and be responsible for coordinating all Fan Crew training. Provide support in these areas at other SE Region properties - Homestead-Miami Speedway & Talladega Superspeedway.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the following direct reports:
    • Venue Crew Chief
    • Venue Fan Crew Supervisors, Crew Leads, Fan Crew and G.I.V.E.S. groups
    • Wardrobe Fan Crew Supervisor, Fan Crew
  • Work with the Hospitality and Special Events staff on non-major events that take place in the Venue throughout the entire year
    • Staff events with Fan Crew, as requested
    • Provide ongoing feedback and suggestions where appropriate
  • Work with the Venue Operations department on issues that may arise before, during and after events
  • Work with the Ticketing Department in relation to open seating areas in the venue and for any ticketing issues that may arise before, during and after events
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure we are delivering a great guest experience:
  • DIS Ticketing and Tours
  • Hospitality/Event Experience
    • Levy Service Corporation
    • Information Technology
    • DIS Business Development
    • DIS Security
    • DIS Operations
    • DIS Emergency Services
    • NASCAR Sourcing and Procurement
  • Work directly with Aramark (or similar vendor) to plan uniform pickups and drop offs for events
    • Budget and place orders for new uniforms throughout the year
  • Identify, request, and implement any needed signage for DIS, HMS, and TSS seating areas
  • Learn and be familiar with ADA guidelines
  • Review and respond to Guest comments and communication for areas of responsibility
  • Participate in annual budget process and ongoing monthly review of expenses for areas of responsibility with the Senior Director & Office Manager.
  • Exhibit fiscally responsible decision making within the department, emphasizing cost savings and efficiencies while maintaining appropriate levels of service to guests.
  • Prepare Event Summaries after all major events and review with department leadership
  • Assist with recruiting and hiring Fan Crew throughout the year
  • Coordinate across all areas of the Guest Services team to produce group training materials for each event season. This will include presentation materials & content, training guides, and technology that can help facilitate training to maximize efficiency & effectiveness.
  • Prepare and present training to Fan Crew in areas of responsibility during breakout sessions
  • Utilize the ABIMM System for all scheduling and payroll processing for seasonal and event staff
  • Supervise and provide instruction to Guest Services Intern(s) as required by Senior Director
  • Provide support to other NASCAR tracks (Southeast Region) for all venue related responsibilities during events
  • Work with other Guest Services team members (Admissions, Information, Trams & Carts) throughout the year and provide help as needed, with the possibility of cross-training within all areas departments.

Qualifications:

Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's degree in sport management, event management or related field
  • Three or more year's event management experience (sports industry preferred).
  • Proven employee administration experience with event day staff.
Job Requirements
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarization with programs such as ABI, Tortal & Workday is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively through excellent verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Available to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Available to work occasional long hour shifts (12+ hours).
  • Walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Position requires travel to regional tracks throughout the year.
  • Education and work experience that demonstrates the ability to lead and inspire a team.
