The Managing Director, Individual Medicare Marketing and Growth Strategy will lead the Individual Medicare marketing and growth strategy with a focus on the Senior Health Services Blue for Life initiatives. This role will also be accountable for the growth of the Individual Medicare business lines (including Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement), by developing and implementing go-to-market strategies and tactics for new products, while working closely with Retail Sales and Marketing (RSMU). Also responsible for the compliance of marketing and distribution activities.

New Product Launches

  • Develop Go-to-Market strategy for new products and works closely with the RSMU to determine best distribution model to achieve optimal sales results.
  • Ensure successful launch of new products including all distribution, sales and marketing activities.
Marketing Strategy Development
  • Builds on Senior Health Services Blue for Life Strategy by focusing on the next generation distribution model of digital distribution and providers as a channel.
  • Define value propositions, messaging, and positioning strategies to differentiate our plans in the market.
  • Create marketing strategy for Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement Plans, PDP Plans, AEP, OEP and Age-In enrollment periods for new members that align with business goals.
  • Working closely with the RSMU to pioneer strategies to capitalize on e-communications, including internet marketing and social media to customers, agents, and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify target markets, analyze market trends, customer segments, and competitive landscape.
  • Defines growth priorities, approves and regularly reviews and revamps activities and initiatives for the Individual Medicare business as needed.
  • Protects and expands market share for the Individual Medicare business by tracking performance against growth targets; leads the development of mitigation plans to ensure the Individual Medicare business is achieving or exceeding market growth rates;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, RSMU, and operations, to ensure alignment and integration of marketing strategies. Collaborate with finance and actuarial teams to develop accurate forecasts for membership growth, retention rates, and revenue projections.
  • Mentor leaders in management providing guidance and advice when required or necessary and encourage/motivate in their daily efforts.
Sales Team Oversight
  • Set sales goals and performance targets in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Develop sales strategies and tactics to drive enrollment, retention, and membership growth.
  • Work closely with the RSMU to monitor sales activities, track performance metrics, and provide regular performance feedback and coaching to the sales team.
Agent/Distribution Strategy
  • Working closely with the RSMU to develop and implement a comprehensive agent/distribution strategy to expand our reach and increase sales of Medicare Advantage and Medicare products.
  • Provide training, support, and resources to agents and brokers to enhance their product knowledge and sales effectiveness.
  • Design, implement and optimize commission structures and incentive programs to motivate agents, brokers, and distribution partners.
  • Establish a local marketing investment co-op program to support agents and brokers in their marketing efforts at the regional or local level.
  • Monitor co-op fund utilization and evaluate the effectiveness of local marketing initiatives to ensure optimal return on investment.
Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
  • Ensure all marketing and distribution activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, including CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) guidelines.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and competitive landscape to proactively address any compliance issues.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health and/or marketing, business administration, or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively more marketing responsibility in a healthcare environment with demonstrated technical experience.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory or management experience, or combinations of related training and experience in marketing required.
  • Insurance license preferred.

  • Ability to effectively present budgetary and/or cost information and respond to questions as appropriate.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.
  • Ability to comprehend the consequences of various problem situations and address them.
  • Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in the healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of key marketing issues that impact business.
  • Knowledge of managed health care industry.
  • Effective delegation, problem solving, and time management skills.
  • Focus on marketing research and methodologies, statistical analysis, developing budgets, financial planning, and strategy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
