The Position

This position is a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Department. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

This position is a member of the Manufacturing Engineering Department with tasks that require a motivated individual who is an expert in the field of manufacturing engineering. The expectations for this position are that the individual uses their extensive experience, knowledge, and training to support the business through process improvements, cost savings initiatives, and everyday production needs with minimal amount of guidance. The position requires the individual have a wide range of knowledge and experience in an industrial plant and they have the interpersonal skills to deal with all different types of situations and individuals. This position requires a person to be familiar with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures to be able to handle difficult and complicated manufacturing problems. The expectation is that this person can lead diverse project teams. The individual should be able to perform all of the key performance objectives (in section 4) regularly and with little direction.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Master's Degree in an Engineering related field with at least (7) years of verifiable experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field with at least (10) years of verifiable experience, or an Associate's Degree in an Engineering Technology related field with at least (15) years of verifiable experience, or at least (20) years of verifiable experience in a Manufacturing environment with a HS Diploma or equivalent.
Skills & Relevant Work Experience Required:
  • Must have expert understanding of blueprints, bills of material, tolerances, and general manufacturing practices and machine design.
  • Must have an excellent understanding of MRP systems as they relate to the responsibilities of Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Interpersonal skills to deal with all types of situations typical to a manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in machining methods for lathes, mills, and grinders, and other industrial equipment
  • CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks
  • Microsoft Office products experience
  • Ability to consistently meet or exceed cost savings targets
  • Program Management Skills and the ability to maintain a heavy workload while meeting deadlines
  • GD&T knowledge/experience
  • Experience programming using CAM software or "G and M code".
  • Cost Savings analysis and capital equipment justification
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action
  • Has a vast knowledge of cutting tools and knows different grades, coatings, and geometries and how they affect machining.
  • Familiar and have experience with a variety of CNC controls such as Fanuc, Hurco, Mazak, Milltronics, Mitsubishi, as well as any others.
  • Has a vast knowledge of different materials and how they react to different machining methods.
  • Willing to work until job is completed which may require extended hours
  • Consistently meets or exceeds goals given
  • Is familiar with and has used multiple machining techniques and what way is the most effective (cost & quality) to make parts.
Skills & Relevant Work Experience Required (continued):
  • Knows different inspection methods, has a clear understanding of GD&T and how to apply it to machining. Can use all different types of inspection tools and knows what tool is the best application for different features/tolerances.
  • Can come up with machining processes and programs to consistently hold tight tolerances, sometimes as tight as .0002".
  • Fluency in English
Travel Requirements: up to 5-10%
