What You Will Contribute:


The Manufacturing/Sustaining Engineering role is an opportunity to work with Badger Meter's newest acquisition and product area, Analytical Technologies (ATI) Inc. This newly created role will work with our Water Quality division and assist in leading Badger Meter through continued growth and alignment amongst our product families. This particular position reports to the Engineering Manager in Collegeville, PA, and is primarily focused on supporting our state-of-the-art gas and liquid measurement products in the factory in Collegeville PA, as an integral part of our engineering team in both PA and WI.

The Engineer I/II role has the opportunity to assist in projects involving new product development, and also to maintain existing products in the production environment while gaining product knowledge. This is an individual contributor role that offers lots of autonomy, creativity and the opportunity to work side by side with the leader for Engineering in Water Quality. This position is a potential learning path into several other engineering areas, including lead roles in new product development.

This role will be working out of our ATI factory Collegeville, PA (6 Iron Bridge Drive.)

Duties, responsibilities, Accountabilities:

  • As a member of new product development teams, create effective test strategies for pcb and product testing and calibration in production. Build out those test solutions and procedures, or on occasion, work with outside groups to build out those plans.
  • Design, troubleshoot and maintain custom product test equipment, software, drawings, and documentation. This may include preventive maintenance procedures, repair details, etc. to ensure reliable operation for ongoing production.
  • Support ATI product line technical issues as they arise from other ATI departments, as a first-contact liaison to the main Engineering Department for issues involving the Operations/Purchasing group to resolve substitute part acceptability questions.
  • Work closely with Engineering Manager to refine processes and testing requirements as needed to maximize production efficiency. Manage engineering production change requests as they arise from production updates or changes.
  • Work closely with Design Engineers to identify and resolve product and test equipment design flaws, including root cause and corrective action process.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or CS/Software/Firmware Engineering.
  • 2+ years of electronic product support experience. Prior work in production release/fixturing, manufacturing support, and cost reduction activity would be a plus.
  • Candidate should have some basic experience designing pcb schematics and doing/modifying PCB layouts of with analog and digital circuits, with common EDA tools such as PCAD, Protel, Altium, etc. Some working design knowledge of both embedded microcontroller/microprocessor firmware (C,C++, etc.) and electronics is a plus.
  • Experience working with test instrument such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, environmental chambers for troubleshooting PCBs and electronic products.
  • Experience building or modifying PCBs and embedded designs for repair or testing.
  • Experience working with other company departments on occasion in technical support of products.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Organizational leadership skills and ability to coordinate projects.
