Your Role

The Manufacturing Technician III position will work in a cleanroom environment and adhere to cGMP batch records and SOPs to manufacture viral vector products. Employees will support projects in conjunction with other GMP Manufacturing personnel (Leads, Supervisors, Managers). Employees are expected to prepare suites for manufacturing, to prepare and autoclave tubing assemblies, and to operate in a safe manner for the employee, others in the GMP Manufacturing suites, and for the inspection and labeling of Final Product being manufactured. The employee will perform very complex tasks with attention to detail.

The Manufacturing Technician 3 will occasionally work off-shifts, weekends, and additional hours.

Physical Attributes:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee may frequently be required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Who You Are

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 3+ years of experience cGMP clean room environment performing aseptic manufacturing or HS Diploma/GED and 6+ years of work experience in a cGMP clean room environment performing aseptic manufacturing operations.
  • 3+ years of experience in semi-automated filling and finishing final product
  • 3+ years of media and buffer preparation
  • 3+ years of sterile filtration of media, buffers, and drug product
  • 3+ years of directly related experience in upstream and/or downstream in aseptic manufacturing operations
  • 3+ years' experience understanding of cGMP/GDP concepts
  • 3+ years' experience with sterile cell culture and aseptic operations in a BSC/LFH (bio safety cabinet, laminar flow hood)
  • 3+ years' experience basic troubleshooting of cell culture systems and/or purification systems
  • 3+ years of experience with biology and chemistry concepts
  • 1+ years' experience drafting and revising Standard Operating Procedures, Batch Records and Item Specifications
  • 3+ years' experience working knowledge of desktop computers and technical equipment (MS Office)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years' experience in compliance with safety guidelines
  • Experience with mammalian cell lines for vial thaw and flask expansion operations
  • Disposable bioreactors (25 to 100L, Wave, SUB, iCELLis), viral vector manufacturing experience
  • Experience growing mammalian adherent cultures in T-Flasks, CellSTACKs and/or HYPERstacks
  • Experience growing mammalian suspension cultures in Erlenmeyer Flasks, Spinner Flasks, and Bioreactors
  • Tangential flow filtration (UF/DF) with hollow fiber membranes and/or cassettes (plate and frame)
  • Experience with GE AKTA Purification Skid operation / column chromatography / column packing
  • Self-motivated, work well in a group, and communicate well with all levels of the operations team.
