Diesel Tech/Mechanic -- Reports to: Operations Manager

Performs inspection, maintenance, and repairs on heavy duty vehicles, such as trucks, trailers, forklifts, pickups, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: In addition to the essential job functions described below, all associates will perform duties as requested by management. Assigned responsibilities and duties may vary based upon location size and operation.

* Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and computer diagnostic tests to identify worn and damaged parts.

* Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major and minor assemblies and sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems including: power and drivetrains, electrical, a/c systems, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, etc.

* Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives; Class A CDL Preferred

* Test and adjust engine, safety, and combustion control in compliance with state and federal standards.

* Maintain accurate, DOT compliant maintenance records and shop records.

* Keep accurate records of all parts/stock and order as needed for maintenance and repair.

* Inventory parts monthly and ensure all accurate records exist.

* Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. * Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation.

* Additional duties as needed and assigned.

* Abide by all policies, rules, and regulations of the company including all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures

* Work overtime as needed- Normal hours would be 40-50 per week.

Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Has worked on - Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Auto Electrical/Wiring

Complete Engine rebuild - In Frames

  • Computer Diagnostics, removal and replacement of injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
  • Perform all necessary diagnostic and documentation functions on the company computer
  • Insite and or Bosch Diagnostic computer experience is a plus
