Baylor Scott and White Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery is seeking an experienced Medical Director of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in the fast growing, central Texas region of Waco, TX.  Candidates must be Board Certified with cardiovascular surgical leadership capabilities. They must have clinical, administrative, and leadership experience, with a focus on strategic planning and growth of the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery in the Waco market. Five years or more of cardiovascular surgery clinical practice and leadership experience preferred.

 

The Opportunity:

  • Position will have direct reporting structure to the CMO – Baylor Scott & White Health Waco – Hillcrest, and will have direct responsibility and oversight on quality, patient outcomes, financial performance, strategic planning, program building, and growth.
  • In a matrix reporting structure with the Central Texas Division CMO and regional hospital CMOs, the position will have collaborative oversight (influence and input) of Strategic Planning, Regulatory Compliance, Performance and Quality Improvement, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery program growth, program alignment and quality reporting for BSWH Central Texas Division. This includes strategic planning, marketing, coordinating, evaluating, and promoting all cardiovascular and thoracic programs within BSWH Waco - Hillcrest.
  • There shall be evidence of strong communication and collaboration with Central Texas Division executive leadership, regional leadership, medical staff, nursing staff, and the BSWH Cardiovascular Service Line Governance Council.
  • In addition, the Medical Director will maintain clinical activity within the Department of Surgery and be on the ‘active’ medical staff of at least Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Waco, Texas.

Cardiovascular program development, responsibility and oversight includes, but is not limited to, assessing, planning, coordinating, evaluating and maintaining all required aspects of regulatory compliance, quality benchmarks, and outcomes, fiscal responsibility, training programs, service delivery strategies, development and oversight of a STS Data Registry and other quality data reporting, program integration, development and implementation of system patient care practice guidelines, and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition, the Medical Director will oversee ongoing and implement necessary quality/process improvement meetings locally and regionally, and provide quarterly updates on quality, outcomes, volumes and benchmark performance to relevant stake holders and leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctorate Degree in Medicine

Licensed to Practice Medicine in the state of Texas by the Texas Medical Board

Employee shall be currently board certified in his or her specialty or demonstrate active pursuit of board certification as defined by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.
