Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Medical Lab Technician with a Public Trust Clearance to support Kadiak and our government customer in Washington, DC.

Position Overview:
Kadiak, LLC, is seeking one PRN Medical Lab Technician in support of the Department of State Primary location of performance is Department of State main building, 21st and Virginia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20520, or other State Annexes in the metropolitan Washington, DC area.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Following the laboratory's procedure for specimen collection, handling, and processing, as well as test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of test results; Following the laboratory's quality control policies
  • Documenting all quality controls activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance
  • Identifying indicators that may impact test performance or reporting of test results and either making corrections or notifying Lab Supervisor
  • Ordering, receiving, and distributing laboratory stock as needed in laboratory and treatment area
  • Understanding all checklists and being able to perform all duties on the checklists associated with the position
  • Adhering to safety policies as defined by Patient First and OSHA
  • Providing positive, warm, and friendly customer service in all interactions
  • Fostering teamwork and a positive, professional atmosphere
  • Completing other duties as directed
Education and Related Experience
  • Employee must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Keyboarding experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Minimum Education Requirements/Certification/Licensure/Experience
  • Minimum 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college, including chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in chemistry, biology or related science
  • Completion of clinical rotations in the areas of microbiology, urinalysis, chemistry and hematology; or Fifty-week military Medical Laboratory Procedures course and meet qualifications for military enlisted occupational specialty of "Medical Laboratory Specialist"
  • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescriptions. Life, accidental death & dismemberment, and long-term disability insurance

Working Environment & Conditions:
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
