COVID VACCINATION NOTICE: Under the COVID-19 mandate issued by the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment on August 2, 2021, current MHCD personnel must be fully vaccinated, or be approved for exemption, no later than September 30, 2021. "Fully vaccinated" means two weeks (14 days) after receiving the final dose of vaccine. The "final dose" is the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or the single dose of a one dose vaccine (J&J).

APOSITION SUMMARY: This position would support the STAY SAFE Clinical Program. The STAY SAFE Clinic will serve youth and their families who are experiencing a recent suicide attempt or severe suicidal thoughts. The STAY SAFE clinic will be staffed by licensed mental health clinicians, a clinical case manager, a psychiatric medical provider, and a clinical supervisor. The STAY SAFE Clinician will provide an essential role in supporting youth and families in acute stabilization after a suicide attempt and/or suicidal thought utilizing the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) model. Clinician will build a safety plan with youth and family while offering psychoeducation on suicide, etc. Responsibilities also include developing treatment plans and related documentation and collaboration with community partners. Licensed preferred.

SALARY RANGE:

Mental Health Therapist II (Master's): $22.00/hr - $26.42/hr

LCSW/LPC/LMFT: $26.35/hr - $31.59/hr

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide intensive individual therapy, family therapy and crisis intervention in the home, community and office settings for families referred to the STAY SAFE Clinic.
  • Utilize the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) model. Training in model will be provided.
  • Provide supportive coaching and psychoeducation to families involved in the clinic.
  • Stabilize family supports and environments to allow the child to benefit from and engage in other services.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners in support of the family's treatment needs. Provide advocacy, when needed.
  • Research, create and maintain community connections to minimize hospitalization.
  • Develop short-term treatment goals, continually monitor treatment progress, and coordinate transitions to other services as needed.
  • Develop community resources that support the client and family's needs in the educational/legal domains that foster sustainable support and growth.
  • Must function effectively in a highly autonomous role.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records consistent with MHCD standards.
  • Participate in team/MHCD meetings, in-service as well as relevant community meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Master's Degree in psychology, social work, or other related human services degree, licensed as an LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD or, Ph.D. by the State of Colorado preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years of experience working with youth with mental health challenges.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge of methods of psychotherapy and community resources.
  • Ability to work effectively with families.
  • Familiarity with the DSM V and diagnostic techniques.
  • Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately.
  • Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care principles/practices.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled at partnering with youth and collaterals to meet mental health needs.
  • Can work autonomously.
  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

Computers, calculators, fax machines, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.
