Scope: This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the underground belt system.

Duties/Responsibilities: These duties include (but are not limited to): recognize and take appropriate actions to correct safety hazards; maintain a clean work area; perform cutting and welding repairs to belt drives and chutes; replace and rebuild gear reducers; replace and repair belt rollers; maintain an inventory of spare parts; maintain mobile equipment, assist in belt installation and advances. Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical problems on belts, must be proficient in precision alignment, and demonstrate good judgment when rigging heavy loads. Candidate must be able and willing to work overtime including call outs.
Skills/Knowledge/Character: Must be able to read, write, and should have a good understanding of basic mathematics. Candidate must have demonstrated skills in planning, scheduling and exercising independent judgment/decision making. Applicant must be able to distinguish colors.
Experience: This position requires an individual with a strong background in heavy equipment maintenance, both mechanical and electrical; must already be a Maintenance Person (Grade 10 or higher) and already completed Alignment Training; or, have 3 to 5 years of recent Industrial Maintenance experience.
Education/License/Certification/Training: Minimum high school diploma; post-secondary technical degree preferred. Welding and Hydraulic certification preferred.
Physical Demands: Must be able to perform physical tasks involving lifting in accordance with Company policy, frequent stooping, bending, walking, shoveling, etc., in various heights, including low back.
Safety Must have a proven record of the ability to manage risk and hazards associated within the mine environment. Must wear all personal protective equipment and follow all safety rules and regulations in accomplishing the job functions. Candidate is also responsible for encouraging crew members' compliance with all safety rules and regulations. Work record must reflect a high regard for and commitment to safety. Participate in Safe-Production Activities.
