Hybrid: This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired.

  • This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-4 x per year.

Summary of the Role:

Mobile apps play an extremely vital role in our customer experience ecosystem within General Motors and are integral to our recently announced growth strategy. The Mobile Strategist will ensure GM is a leader in the mobile space by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to establish/evolve our OKRs and product roadmap to not only meet the demands of our customers, but more importantly, exceed their expectations when it comes to our mobile experiences. The Mobile Strategist will be our fiercest customer advocate, and build a team culture to maintain an engaging, vibrant workplace.

Job Description:
  • The responsibility of the Mobile Strategist is to identify future trends and strategies for mobile applications and develop roadmaps that prepare us for those futures.
  • The Mobile Strategist will combine business needs with platform technologies that allow GM to implement innovative, thoughtful digital experiences across the ecosystem, while gaining efficiencies by standardizing implementation strategies across products.
  • The Mobile Strategist will focus on both short- and long-term needs - being passionate about the long-term, while being able to shift direction short-term in response to emerging trends or issues.
  • The Strategist will lead analysis and discovery activities, including competitive research, benchmarking, and developing proof of concept work with our UX team, while working with multiple lines of business & cross-functional partners to develop the strategy for mobile applications.
  • The ideal person will be familiar with the current state of mobile technology and standard methodologies throughout a variety of industries.
  • Proven record on being knowledgeable about development, test, and deployment standards, and have experience leading initiatives from conception to implementation.
  • The ideal Strategist will understand the importance of delivering outstanding digital customer experiences while balancing the need to protect consumer privacy and data.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with analytics and R&D teams to understand business and technology trends and develop insights that translate into recommendations.
  • Partner with Head of Product, other mobile team members, Line of Business Leads, and technical partners to find opportunities that drive the business forward through engaging, meaningful digital interactions.
  • Use data, insights, and customer feedback to improve operational performance and team efficiency.
  • Facilitate strategy and planning sessions.
  • Obsess over all aspects of our digital customer experiences to uncover improvement opportunities and bring them to life.
  • Participate in SAFE agile development practices and ceremonies.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Highly developed oral and written communications skills
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills where problems are sophisticated
  • Customer-first orientation, with deep global experience working across various customer segments
  • Ability to work both independently and on teams
  • Extremely comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, empower team members, and elicit work output
  • Experience in SAFE Agile development
  • High level of passion, persistence, leadership ability, initiative, and experienced judgment to identify priorities, initiate projects, and complete activities with a strong sense of urgency
  • Experience crafting and running cross functional teams to solve sophisticated problems
  • Global cultural awareness and experience with global teams
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel
Education:
  • BS/BA with 8+ years software, engineering, or high-tech experience, MBA preferred
