Job Title: Multi-Craft HVAC Tech

Department: Operations

Reports To: Multi-Craft HVAC Foreman

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary:

At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel to meet the customer's unique job requests. Therefore, all field employees will be cross-trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc. The focus of this position will be to provide preventative care and repairs for HVAC systems and installation of HVAC systems by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helps identify problems with heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning systems for commercial and industrial customers.
  • Carefully examines the equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
  • Assists HVAC foreman in the repair or replacement of defective equipment, mechanical components, or wiring within the HVAC system.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks and inspections on HVAC equipment.
  • Inspects HVAC systems for effectiveness and safety.
  • Keep records of customer appointments and payment transactions, to include invoices.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment, tools, and HVAC resources.
  • Performs all aspects of installation of HVAC systems.
  • Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet our customers need and will be expected in this role.


  • Requirements and Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years experience required
  • Certification through the Environmental Protection Agency to handle refrigerants required
  • Must hold state HVAC technician license
  • Certification or associate's degree from an HVAC program at a technical school preferred
  • Strong verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex HVAC issues with customers in a way they understand
  • Must hold state driver's license
  • Must be punctual and adhere to a daily schedule with multiple appointments in different locations

  • Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
