Position Overview

The Network Security Engineer role is a member of the Cybersecurity Team, whose mission is to embed industry leading security practices that support and enable business objectives to be delivered safely. This specific position is a technical role, responsible for managing and driving enhancement of our Network security, through adoption of network best practices, and alignment with NIST and ISO 27001 security standards. The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting secure network solutions. This position requires strong partnership with IT, Global Security, business, and third-party stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Serve as a member of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality, integrity and professional behavior expected of a Cybersecurity Professional
  • Provide overall Network security expertise including expert knowledge of NGFW, ISE, VPN, Umbrella, SDWAN, and other network technologies.
  • Deliver subject matter expertise for Network protocols and designs with emphasis on security.
  • Evaluate and lead network security projects from the perspective of information security standards and best practices.
  • Lead and participate in Network security and strategy discussions.
  • Review network designs and evaluate compliance to applicable security standards.
  • Create and maintain network security related policies, procedures, standards, and documentation as needed.
  • Maintain current configurations, carry out proper administration and support of network security systems (e.g., Firewalls, Cloud security appliances and services, VPNs, Enterprise Gateway Devices, Remote Access Solutions, Content Engines, IPS/IDS Systems)
  • Maintain current and relevant knowledge of common network, authentication, and security protocols (e.g., 802.1X, SNMP, TLS, SSL DNS, HTTPS, SMTP, LDAP, KERBEROS, RADIUS and FTPS)
  • Manage and monitor network security consoles and remediate alerts as appropriate.
  • Maintain and enhance operational runbooks.
  • Learn cross functional skills to participate in the management and monitoring of other Security applications and tools.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with all IT, Cybersecurity, third-party, service consumer, and business stakeholders.
  • Help monitor and enforce compliance with the organization's security policies and standards among employees, contractors, and third parties.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer-related discipline or relevant equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with implementing and managing secure enterprise-wide technical network solutions in a large, distributed environment.
  • CCNA, CCIE, CCNA Security, or similar certifications desired.
  • Expert knowledge of NGFWs, Cisco ISE, and VPNs required.
  • Expert knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP models, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, NetFlow and other network protocols.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco and Meraki firewalls and switches, Umbrella, and SDWAN technologies.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of data encryption, TLS, PKI, etc.
  • Significant experience configuring and deploying network equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and remediating network and traffic issues.
  • Experience with Cloud networking, firewalls and NSGs.
  • Experience in implementing Azure Cloud security best practices a plus.
  • Experience with Splunk a plus.

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as required by business needs.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work; and strong ability to work with time/date deadlines.

  • Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person.
  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use tools to mount and remove hardware devices from walls and equipment racks.

  • Occasional work in dusty/dirty environment when at a production site.
