OVERVIEW:

Our client is seeking a Capacity Install Technician to join their growing team within infrastructure operations. In this role, you will work in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and assist in the development of innovative ways to automate and scale our network. You will launch cutting edge server technologies and solve diverse networking impairments. You will quickly and accurately assess a wide range of infrastructure issues, which requires a good understanding of computers, servers, switches and various networking devices from both a hardware and software perspective and a demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new technology.

To be successful in this role you should possess technical aptitude, written and oral communications skills and the ability to deal effectively with people in a wide variety of situations. In addition, you must possess strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability. You will be able to leverage your experience exercising high levels of initiative, judgment, and diplomacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
• Carry a pager/cell phone for communication, information, emergency, and on-call situations
• Install, test and troubleshoot fiber optic and copper cabling, including patch panels and patch cords.
• Linux/Unix Administration

REQUIREMENTS:

• Proof of US Citizenship is required and will need to be verified upon start
• Data center Experience
• Cabling and fiber experience is a huge plus
• 1-3+ years Network Technician, IT, experience or in a related field. Minimum of 6 months
• Must have valid driver's license and their own vehicle
• Must be able to pass background check and drug test
• Must demonstrate effective communication including good grammar
• Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs
• Must be able to function well under pressure with multiple priorities
• Must have basic computer skills (MS Excel, printing, outlook)
• Must have basic knowledge of fiber cabling
• Must have basic knowledge of fiber optics
• Must have basic knowledge of copper cabling and termination
• Must be able to generate, print, and apply cable labels following defined standards
• Must be able to install fiber and copper cabling to standards and best practices
• Must be able to install fiber optics into networking equipment
• Must be able to patch fiber cabling between devices (networking, servers, patch panel, etc...)
• Must be able to install cable tray water falls.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Manage work and priorities through work dashboards, ticketing systems and Manager assignments
• Good knowledge of network design and protocols
• Experience troubleshooting network device connectivity
• Familiarity with incident ticket tracking systems (Remedy, JIRA, SIM, etc.)
• Completion of IT Industry Certifications (CompTIA, Cisco, etc.)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Any physical requirements are expectations with reasonable accommodations.
• The ability to sit in front of computer for entire scheduled 8-hour shift with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41 pounds or more
• Walk job sites in uneven terrain
• Work at heights and from ladders
